Biking 58:46 intensity: (8:01 @0) + (47:55 @1) + (2:50 @2) 7.96 mi (8.1 mph) +55m
ahr:107 max:149 weight:225.8lbs shoes: Redline Conquest Cyclo-X

Geared up: rain jacket over long sleeve, rain pants over tights, snow shoveling boots, to see Maria and family off for their nearby 5k. Family stuff t the house meant I didn't get too see them too much, still nice to see them briefly.

Then did some sort of AR style biking - bandit trails, exploratory, a little hiking/hike a bike.

Ran out of time, proudly did what I could with what I hand. Outbound was awesome, tailwind plus the drop had me flying. Not so much on the drive back, especially when I took some pictures scouting for Maria's 5k.

I am slightly mad that this bike needs more love than I thought. Currently the front d is on a bench in my garage with the cable taped up.

BUT, it is fulfilling its role as, it sucks outside, ride me guilt free. Went out on a rainy day and eventually ended up down on Hines were I saw a car didn't make it through one of the giant puddles. No camera sadly.

And I went through a moderately deep puddle (over the bottom of the chainring), guilt free.

Somewhat damp at the moment. Hopefully this pays dividends in future races.

I have to check the track and see if I....no no no, I realized without checking the track that I missed a street! And there's an ice cream shop on it, so that's just not even thinking. facepalm.jpg I'll have to do another attempt at a complete Old Village...

Also, it's not even a daytime ride to the Old Village if you don't get stuck by a long slow train.

Reinflated and it feels so good.

Tire did squirm somewhere along the way, so not sure if the patches weren't holding, there's still glass, or it finally just settled (I don't think I fully seated it).

Notes: should really care a spare tube...and look at getting CO2. Or maybe just running around in circles around Plymouth instead of heading 15 miles away when every sensible person is sleeping. Or also make sure I bring a charged phone instead of just the watch, and maybe a rain poncho etc. in case things really go south. I have a little truck bag, there is room.

An almost late run in. I am not so peppy on reduced sleep.

Harvey skipped a nap so he zonked off early. I had no real chance to get out either day, so I thought I would at least try to get out period, and if things went well, do something decent.

Things did go well, until shortly after the turnaround, where the bike got very squirrelly. Gosh darn it, flat!

I walked it back 200 meters to the most recent bathroom and set about fixing it.

A something like 5 mm glass shard had embedded in the tire. I run Marathon Plusses that have a thick anti puncture strip embedded in the tire, however it must not be quite that thick. Stupid litterers!

I found the hole and patched it. But then vigorous pumping of my little mini pump did nothing. Argh. I should really order an inflator.

I decided to start walking towards the pump track, and text my two most likely nearest and night owl-est homies for a ride, since riding on it flat just kept de-beading the tire.

Nooo, neither text went through from the apple watch. Thanks but no thanks T Mobile + Apple Watch Series 5.

At least it was a pleasant temp, lots of moonlight, and no rain. My bike shoes are apparently not terrible to hike in on asphalt.

I eventually got to the pump truck and didn't see a bike fixit station. Noooo, that's still like 7-8 miles from home.

Then, behold, by the locked bathroom!

Even with it, it took some doing. THAT pump didn't inflate the rear, so I tested it on the front, yes the pump works, then rechecked the tube and as seems to be the case for me on Hines Drive flats, there was a sneaky second hole. I patched that, and pumped it.
