Race Evaluation

COC Marmot O-Cup: Medium Adv

Browntime

1. P D P R +02:00Took a little while to find the proper route down through marsh to get over to control
2. P D P R +03:00Missed the opening between the cliffs. This cost me some time going around.
3. P D P R +02:00Missed some features on map, like the dam. Went a little right after crossing pond. Was able to figure out I needed to go farther left. As I was going that way, could see control in the distance.
4. P D P R +01:00Started to get confused by terrain after passing reentrant to my left. Stuck with my bearing and picked back up where I was.
5. P D P R +05:00Planned to mostly go straight and hit features along the way. After passing a couple cliffs, got mixed on where I was. Ended up blowing by control location. Figured it out after a couple hundred yards and went back.
6. P D P R Followed trail, at second reentrant took that around cliff to control.
7. P D P R +02:00Had the right plan, but went to marsh when I should have turned at cliff just right before it. Ended up walking along marsh, but could have ran if I would have just stayed on cliff level.
8. P D P R +00:30A person on another course had me drift slightly right. Missed reentrant opening by about 30 meters, so had to walk along cliff to get there.
9. P D P R +00:30Having great visibility is what hurt me on this one. Saw a cliff in the distance, which looked to match map so started going towards it. Hit my pace count, but could still see cliff about time as a far. Looked right and could see control up. Ran over to it.
10. P D P R +00:15Just took my time when going to through cliffs to not miss it. Could have went a little faster.
11. P D P R Shortest route of the day. Just had to follow bearing.
12. P D P R +02:00Thought I was doing this one correctly. Once I hit the top of hill, cliffs in the distance were not what I pictured from looking at map. As I was following bearing saw a control off to my right. Went to that, it was not mine. As I took another look, realized I needed to go left. Could see the control in the distance.
13. P D P R There were a lot of stony ground on the map, but kind of looked like a lot of other areas that didn't have that so didn't quite understand. Kept going with my bearing, ended up being a little farther than I expected but no issues.
14. P D P R +00:30Went around a cliff to check a control, was not mine, wasted some time.
15. P D P R Probably my longest accurate bearing ever. Saw 2 trees together in the distance. Leg was probably 600 meters. Ended up hitting control spot on with trees still in background.
16. P D P R +00:30Didn't find control at first. Must have hit cliff on right. Went back other direction and found it.
17. P D P R Mostly just bearing to a thicket.
F. P D P R Decided to not cut over to trail and just jogged bearing to finish.
