Map #1
First run after a few weeks of rough work and moving into a new place. Took my time getting to CP1 to get comfortable with the map. Stuck to the trails to CP2 to avoid the nasty brush under the hydro lines. I took a direct bearing to CP3 and I think I lost some ground going up a few hills that I didnt need to. CP4,5 & 6 were uneventful (aside from some of the climbs) I mainly followed the terrain features and the stream. From CP6 to CP7 I went south towards the power lines only to miss the east and west cross trail. Doubled back north and followed the trail back to 3 and then up and down the hill I should have skipped before. From CP7 I followed the trail towards CP1 and picked up CP8 and headed for CP9.
Map #2
CP 10, 11 and 12 were uneventful and I just followed my compass. By this time I was a little tired and I was slowing to a quick walk. Once across the hydro lines I miss counted my creaks and shop north for 13 to early so I double backed to the hydro lines and found the right creak. CP14 was the same as CP6 and CP15 was a simple bearing shot to the north. Once again I went through the valley of hills from CP15 to CP16 and burned lots of energy. CP16 and CP17 were uneventful and more a mix of trails and direct bearings.
Sadly I lost my SI chip somewhere between CP6 and CP7 so I wont be ranked but I still had lots of fun (thank you Pat and staff!!!!!). It didnt occur to me at the time but I really wasted lots of time and energy on some of the hills in the middle of the course. Just altering my course slightly I could have avoided the hills (something to keep in mind for next time. I found my now a little older XA Pro 3D 1's were lacking in grip but I didnt get any blisters which is a bonus.
