Trail running warm up/down 15:15 [4] 1.9 km (8:02 / km)
ahr:131 max:143 shoes: Asics Artic Gel (2006)

Trails from home to the start of the course - uphill as always, which explains my high pulse.

Orienteering 54:10 [4] *** 5.3 km (10:13 / km)
ahr:132 max:148 spiked:11/12c shoes: Asics Artic Gel (2006)

Same as last Sunday - but a different course, this time D20L from O-ringen 1999. A lot easier to run with lots less snow in the forest - still quite a bit in places though, and the crust still strong enough to carry my weight.
Noticed on #7 that I had 'found' last week´s #7 on an unmarked knoll about 30m from the correct spot as I spiked it today from another direction. Missed the next instead that I spiked last week...
I felt strong today, my guess is that the relatively easy week has something to do with it - and the spring feelings :)
Beautiful day today - watched TV from the last competition of this year´s XC Ski World Cup in Falun in the morning - or most of the day actually (as I did yesterday instead of training...) - but felt I had to go out in the sunny and warm weather. Freezing in the morning (-4°C) but very warm in the afternoon (+17°C !! according to the official weather station).

Trail running warm up/down 11:00 [3] 1.5 km (7:20 / km)
ahr:130 max:139 shoes: Asics Artic Gel (2006)

Back home again...

OCAD/OOM/Sportident/MeOS (1:45:00) 1:00 [0]

Changing batteries and programming a couple of SI units for tonight. Went downtown delivering them to Erik S after (instead of) lunch.

Orienteering (Night O) 1:05:42 [3] *** 4.3 km (15:17 / km)
ahr:120 max:132 spiked:11/15c shoes: Asics Artic Gel (2006)

Chicken Night #4 - Night O training on a new (small) map in an area that hasn´t been used for maybe 30 years. Good turn-out, about 25 runners (+a few running in daylight), it´s getting obvious that the O season is just around the corner.
Getting off to a poor start with mistakes on #3 & #4 (3+2min) then decent for a while except for #9 (1min) and #13 (0,5min). Very slow as always - night O isn´t quite my favourite, but at least it´s good training and that´s why I keep doing it. Three loops of around 2km each, but I quit after two when my battery bailed out.

Note

Cold in the morning -7°C, which was rather lucky since Anders had an outdoor activity day (friluftsdag) at school today and went XC skiing!
Sunny and warm around mid-day but a bit colder again at night for the night training (just around freezing, but not below zero?).

Road running warm up/down 15:30 [3] 2.6 km (5:58 / km)
ahr:127 max:134 shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Before the test run with Mats M.

Road running tempo (test run) 25:34 [5] 5.0 km (5:07 / km)
ahr:148 max:154 shoes: Asics Artic Gel (2006)

TNT at Skräddarbacken - Test run, first time for me (except for running it once on my own earlier this winter in -15°C).
After the warm-up I went back in and changed my shoes - luckily I had brought both pairs - into the ones with studs. I thought that there would have been less snow and ice on the bike paths, but there was still quite a bit. A bit chilly and temp just around and below 0°C.
Felt OK - started out a bit too fast (4:10min/km-pace, which is definitely over my head) and had to pay for it on the first long up-hill part, but from the turning point at the bus-stop on Lapp Anders I could get rolling OK again. Checking my watch regularly to see how my pace was I thought I would be far from my original 25min goal, but then after 4km when I checked again I thought I suddenly was way under the required split (on second thought - back home - I now realize that what I thought was a split was actually the time of day - 18:56!!).
Splits: 4:58 - 5:56 - 5:02 - 4:38 (downhill) - 5:00
Reasonably pleased with my time - but Mats beat me and had 25:07 :(

Road running warm up/down 8:20 [3] 1.1 km (7:35 / km)
ahr:125 max:132 shoes: Asics Artic Gel (2006)

Easy jog down with Mats M.

Stretching 10:00 [1]

A little between warm up and test race - the rest after.
