ACT Badge Event - Honeysuckle (getting greener)

Started ok, hit the first couple ok although felt like I was super unfit gasping for breath. Then made a bit of a horrendous error, losing 3min on a less than 1 minutes leg, just a bit stupid once I hit the circle I think. Then a tougher leg around a hill and it started getting a bit hard, and the slightly sore back from when I woke up was getting less slightly. Struggled in the terrain and each downhill was making the back feel worse and worse. Ended up just making the call that it wasnt worth keeping on going because I was just starting to practise shit-house orienteering. Walked to 6th control and then jogged back on the road, pretty slow.

Rode around Sparrow Hill singletrack (red arrow, outer loop including home run extension but not Big Cow loop).

Good fun, pushed more and more as I rode on.

Really fun race. Had a pretty clean run apart from the bad wobbles on the first leg. Settled down ok though, no mistakes but a couple of small wobbles. Time was pretty ordinary compared to everyone else (3min behind Jules, min behind Shep, and just in front of juniors). Struggled a bit and felt tired, but still disappointing lack of speed. Perhaps just tired from the ride, will have to see in next weeks sprint.

was going to do more, but its soooo boring. planned to be on the MTB, but a really rough night with super sore ribs made me think it would be a better idea to sit on a more stable bike.

6*4min with 2min job recovs on lower Bruce Ridge track.

Passed Jules on 2nd rep and he jogged alongside effortlessly for a bit and then went on his way. Felt pretty reasonable then, in fact felt like a runner, which I can't say too often. so good session. even ankle was fine.

just strolled out of complex and was surrounded by runners, recognised voices and then I was chatting to Marty. They were on their cool down, so my warm-up ended up twice as fast as normal. possibly set me up well for the session though. my cool down was much slower though.

Sparrow Hill training on course from squad training that I didnt do.

Ran each section (there were 4) quite solidly. Orienteered fairly well, was pretty happy with the session really although I wobbled quite a bit right at the end. felt pretty good too.
