Orienteering race 46:24 [4] **** 6.2 km (7:29 / km) +280m 6:06 / km

Middle Race at the World Cup spectator races, Mytchett. Nice area and ok course, but just came off the re-eye from San Francisco so a little tired...about 3 minutes of silly mistakes

Orienteering race 1:15:57 [4] *** 12.5 km (6:05 / km) +195m 5:38 / km

Regional race at Butter Wood.

Lovely forest, mostly white and very fast running. Technically very easy though, lots of line features and the planning was pretty easy. Quite tired but managed to run reasonably fast all the way, except fore the last few controls.

Winner took 63.

Orienteering race 1:03:20 [3] 8.8 km (7:12 / km) +280m 6:13 / km

Saturday O-cross race in Bagshot. Interesting format: mass start with a few forked controls ie people have different controls and that's it (so not 100% fair) - but still pretty fair as they are very close to each other. 3 maps altogether, 26 controls of which about 5 or 6 are forked (and only 2 forks at each).

Very tired though so even got beaten by a girl (was Sarah Rollins though). Also some very dodgy geezers hanging out with guns, made sure I left pretty damn fast

Running 44:10 [2] 4.5 mi (9:49 / mi)

Run from work along the Thames, very nice but also very slow as I was going with some dude from work who's 55 and not very fit..

Running 1:01:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:05 / km) +100m 4:53 / km

Longer run all the way around the edge of Richmond Park. A very nice outing but very tired again, had to stop a couple of times for a few seconds...

Running 44:30 [3] 10.0 km (4:27 / km)

Usual longish run around Richmond Park. Felt pretty tired.

Running 1:00:01 [4] * 14.0 km (4:17 / km)

Street-O, Fulham. One hour score, great fun. Loads of controls so a real score-O not just a "which way is the fastest to do all of them" thing

warmup

Orienteering race 45:36 [4] **** 7.0 km (6:31 / km) +130m 5:58 / km

British Middle Champs, near London.

Great day out, nice runnable area but technical enough for a middle distance (some spur / reentrant and some green). Excellent run, no mistakes at all that I can think of. But ran fairly slowly again as I felt a bit tired, though less so than I thought. With hindsight I could have probably pushed a bit harder (didnt feel completely exhausted at the finish), but may have resulted in some mistakes.

Will probably take the opportunity to put this map, and any others of "100% perfect" races on my wall - be interesting to find out how many there are, my guess is probably 1 a year, maybe 5-10 in total..?

Running 45:30 [3] 9.0 km (5:03 / km) +150m 4:40 / km

Run with Abi through Richmond Park - lovely day, watm and sunny but pretty tired again (tough week)

Thursday Apr 7, 2005 #

Running 34:40 [3] 7.0 km (4:57 / km)

easy run through Richmond Park, small extra loop. Pretty tired.

Tuesday Apr 5, 2005 #

Running 29:45 [3] 6.0 km (4:58 / km)

Short loop through Richmond Park, felt ok despite the warmup pint of beer

Sunday Apr 3, 2005 #

Orienteering race 1:08:47 [4] *** 7.9 km (8:42 / km) +390m 6:59 / km

Local race at Box Hill. Very steep and very green hence not very enjoyable (plus felt pretty tired). Some good route choice but the forest was just too green to really enjoy it.

Somehow managed to came 4th out of 30+ (about 6 mins down). Practically no mistakes will have helped, even though I ran really slowly

Run in Richmond Park with Abi. Felt pretty tired
