Running 45:06 [4] 10.5 km (4:18 / km)

The morning run, a little faster than usual because I felt good! Personal best, can't be long until I do it under 45...

Monday Oct 28, 2002 #

Strength 45:00 [3]

Felt stronger than last week

Sunday Oct 27, 2002 #

Orienteering 48:09 [4] 5.7 km (8:27 / km) +150m 7:28 / km

Went to an event near Epernay that was supposed to be a "Regionale" but turned out to be the world's smallest orienteering event. 9 people in total showed up, and when we got there to do the long course, the organiser grabbed some controls and went to hang them because we were the only ones and he wouldn't have bothered otherwise. Also, he forgot his watch at home so it was "self-timed". I'm still looking for those results on the internet..

It was a beautiful day in nice woods (if a little thorny as usual), loved it. Map a little dodgy, but found most of the controls straight away, if only because they were hung very high

Orienteering 25:00 [3] 3.0 km (8:20 / km)

Helped the poor guy take in control, good thing because I needed some more exercise anyway

Running 1:17:45 [3] 15.0 km (5:11 / km) +200m 4:52 / km

Nice afternoon run near Epernay, France. Rolling hills, sunset, woods with fallen leaves, vineyards, mud, "no trespassing" signs. What more can you want?

Running 46:34 [3] 10.5 km (4:26 / km)

The morning run. Horribly tired. We had wind for the first time today, felt like running along the Esplanade at times..

Strength 30:00 [3]

2 sets. 2 training sessions in one day, doesn't it make you sick??

Monday Oct 21, 2002 #

Strength 45:00 [3]

3 sets. Felt weak.

Sunday Oct 20, 2002 #

Running 15:00 [2] 1.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

warmup and down for orienteering

Orienteering 51:58 [4] 7.3 km (7:07 / km) +200m 6:16 / km

Local meet. As expected, pretty thick and relatively boring. Beat Abi by 1min, puh. Nice autumn day.

Running 1:03:00 [3] 8.0 mi (7:52 / mi)

brrr. tough morning run in parc montsouris / cite universitaire despite the nice weather. jetlag from last 2 weeks has now really kicked in..

Tuesday Oct 15, 2002 #

Gym 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Gym in Cleveland, Ohio (again, don't ask). 5 min on the cycle for warmup and down

Gym 30:00 [4]

A hill session on the treadmill. Ugh.

Sunday Oct 13, 2002 #

Running 15:00 [2] 1.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Warmup (sadly, no warmdown)

Orienteering 1:45:45 [4] 17.92 km (5:54 / km) +80m 5:46 / km

2nd national event of the year in Orléans, France. Boooooooooooooooring. A 3k "route choice" where the only route is ona PAVED road, can't be good.
Came only 24th of 60, pretty disappointing but felt tired and couldn't get any motivation going..

Running 20:00 [2] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Three steps to an efficient warmup: 1. Run 7 mins to start, 2. Figure out that you left your SI back at the car, sprint back in panic for 4 mins, 3. Figure out that you actually have plenty of time after all, slow jog back to start (7mins)

Orienteering 31:49 [5] 6.3 km (5:03 / km) +35m 4:55 / km

Short race, one of my best races ever I think (but it was fairly easy technically) - 10sec mistakes total. Came 13th out of 80+ in elite, very sweet. The winner managed to do it in 26.15 though, which is pretty damn impressive..

Thursday Oct 10, 2002 #

Running 45:08 [3] 10.5 km (4:18 / km)

The usual run back in Paris. Had serious jetlag (arrived in the morning) but for some reason felt good running and beat best time by a minute even though I tried to slow down in places..

It's interesting how running is so much more enjoyable if you can't do it very often, than if you do it every single day

Tuesday Oct 8, 2002 #

Strength 45:00 [3]

3 sets in Tampa, Florida. Don't ask.

Sunday Oct 6, 2002 #

Running 1:00:08 [3] 8.0 mi (7:31 / mi)

Easy run with Tomas and Abi in Parc de Montsouris and Cite Universitaire. We couldn't really get any semblance of speed going, but the area is quite decent, some hills at least

Saturday Oct 5, 2002 #

Orienteering 1:31:00 [3] 10.0 km (9:06 / km)

3 training circuits in the Fontainebleau forest. It is absolutely amazing, 25 big maps of Scandinavian quality at an hour of Paris

Wednesday Oct 2, 2002 #

Strength 30:00 [3]

2 sets in the evening

Tuesday Oct 1, 2002 #

Strength 30:00 [3]

2 sets in the morning. ugh. if I must do something in the morning I think it will be a run not strength. At least once you're out the door there's no stopping, with strength after each exercise you have to motivate yourself to keep going..
