10 AM

Orienteering 57:45 [3] 10.99 km (5:15 / km) +56m 5:07 / km
ahr:146 max:160

Wellington College Brown course.

42 controls on a 1:5 map (of half buildings and half surrounding forest), so basically a very long sprint.

OK nav but feeling v tired so hard work, especially as I ran off too fast. Beat Abi by about 7 mins (good) but about 10 mins behind winner (v bad.)

Running 1:17:43 [3] 16.13 km (4:49 / km) +172m 4:34 / km
ahr:159 max:164

Longish, easyish Wimbledon loop with Abi.

Still not 100% well but just about enough for this. Made it relatively hard work, but a beautiful morning once the mist started clearing.

Running 25:33 [3] 5.3 km (4:49 / km) +100m 4:24 / km
ahr:165 max:183

Quick park loop with Abi.

GPS fail for first half which I only realised when the 2k split was 11 minutes which was clearly wrong (how dare it?) Looks like without GPS, it relies on “pace” which for me is completely wrong - not sure if it’s possible to adjust but will look into it.

Orienteering 57:39 [3] 8.0 km (7:12 / km) +180m 6:29 / km
ahr:151 max:172

Kent Night Cup orienteering. I really wasn’t well enough, but I’m done with being sick so went anyway.

Excellent fun and great to be out. 1 hour mass start using a tiny area with 21 controls, but they added “dumbbells” of sets of 2 controls that if taken in order gave you bonus points. So you ended up running back and forth across the map a lot.

I wanted to do the whole lot however long it took, but I managed in 57’ so perfect. Think I might have won despite taking it super easy and a few nav wobbles (though nothing major.)

Running 59:19 [3] 12.65 km (4:41 / km) +115m 4:29 / km
ahr:144 max:171

Man alive. The tiny cold turned into a 2-week epic, annoyingly never really awful but never getting better either.

Just about got over it now but hard work this. Time ok given the circumstances.

Running 25:11 [3] 5.41 km (4:39 / km) +72m 4:22 / km
ahr:147 max:179

Still feeling ill but needed to air the brain. Legs actually felt pretty decent but decided shorter would be better.

Note

I did catch Claudia’s cold in the end. Relatively mild but best to sit out today. Shame as the weather was great (15C in December!!) but I haven’t missed a run for illness for ages so never mind.
