In Austria for a week’s holiday so went for the ‘standard’ loop around the village, with a chunk of climb.

My body really wasn’t up for this so I had to take a short break after 10 minutes. After that it didn’t get any worse, but overall most definitely Type 2 fun.

I’ve had a really tough few months at work with relatively little sleep, yet running was broadly ok. Now I’m on holiday it’s getting worse - my theory is that a stressed body full of adrenaline will do ok running even when sleep deprived, whereas a relaxed, overslept body will struggle because it’s on “chill” mode. But who knows.

In Edinburgh for work, so it had to be Arthur’s Seat, but once again at 7.15am.

Very tough this one (though a minute quicker than last time) and I felt really woozy at the top, not helped by gale force winds (for Scottish readers: a light breeze.) The views more than made up for it though, and it’s amazing how quickly you can get to the top.

Edinburgh really is a beautful, beautiful city so I need to come back with the family sometime.

In Yorkshire for a wedding, and needs must.

Basically woke up and ran off within 10 minutes, so very creaky especially to begin with. Plus at least 20 stiles and gates to climb.

But it was lovely.

4x4mins to give the calf a chance to recover…

…but then as I was doing intervals anyway, I figured I might as well throw in a couple of fast ones: 3.58 and 3.51 per km

Definitely the first time in 3+ years that I’ve done a km in under 4 minutes. Felt tough but kinda good. Maybe a sub-3h marathon is still possible after all?
