Orienteering 1:27:42 [3] 12.58 km (6:58 / km) +432m 5:57 / km

British Long Champs, Kilnsey, 11.3/510.

Hmm. Didn’t feel very strong throughout on what was mostly runnable, but sometimes tussocky open moor.

On the plus side, I didn’t make any mistakes, got the “el gigante” route choice ok, didn’t fade too badly and beat Abi by 5 minutes. And came 6th.

On the minus side, Megan Carter Davies did 71 for the same course (which does feel crazy fast) and Ant 72.

So not a great result, but it is amazing to be out in terrain like this and the views were fantastic - what’s not to like really.

British Mixed Sprint Relays, 1st leg

We came second overall (and got a nice mug) despite me only coming back 13th on leg 1. To my credit I did have the much longer gaffle (+45s) but I was also pretty slow. But there was lots of dead running so it wasn’t really my thing.

Abi had a fab run on 2nd leg to come back 2nd and then Paul C consolidated on the final leg.

Running 55:03 [4] 12.63 km (4:22 / km) +114m 4:10 / km
ahr:174 max:181

Usual Richmond Park loop, with Abi. Who proceeded to run away from me and finished 27s quicker.

As my excuse I had felt a bit woozy the last couple days so really struggled on the uphill. Pleased to have finished actually in what is the best time for over a year. So Abi just went bloody fast, good for her (he says through gritted teeth.)

Calf started nagging in first km, but didn’t get any worse. Now a bit tight but will be fine.
