Orienteering 58:37 [3] 9.88 km (5:56 / km) +153m 5:30 / km

Concorde Chase, Hawley & Hornley.
Short Brown, 8.7/165

Didn't sleep well last night so went in with low expectations and started slowly - which was probably a good thing as I managed to maintain a decent 'cruising speed' all the way through.

A very clean run navigation wise in what is a super faffy area with lots of paths / thickets / pits etc - so attackpoints were key, and I found them all. A bit lucky in places too with people popping out of controls just at the right time. Even managed to survive a fairly strong nosebleed halfway round though my map and O top were pretty splattered.

Managed to win the course, which was nice, though sadly no PaulC. And it was definitely the right choice not to do Brown (which I had considered) as the winning time was 90 for 11k!

Early morning run from my work offsite’s hotel in Hertfordshire. I really, really didn’t want to go, but actually it was lovely once out.

Held up by a large pack of schoolkids on one path, but I managed ti slalom around them in the end

Part 1 of Barnes O-Duathlon: Cycle to Barnes

Orienteering 30:56 [3] 5.61 km (5:31 / km) +3m 5:30 / km

Part 2 of Barnes O-Duathlon: Night-O on Barnes Common.

As I had entered online, I went straight from cycling to orienteering with maybe 3 minutes in between, so the legs were pretty heavy to start with. Barnes is always faffy at night so I lost some seconds here and there, plus 45 seconds I reckon on the route choice (my eyes were too bad to see one of the stairs.)

It was ok overall though plus the controls in the cemetery were definitely “atmospheric”.

Cycling 25:30 [3] 8.8 km (2:54 / km) +67m 2:47 / km
ahr:125 max:169

Part 3 of Barnes O-Duathlon: Cycle home again. I did have a sneaky half in the pub before setting off though.
