Stanglwirt hotel (728m) > Gaudeamushütte hut (1259m)

This is basically 530m of straight uphill climb on a mix of tarmac roads, gravel, footpaths and rock. Managed to run about 90% of it, and don’t think the bits I fast-walked were that much slower than running, although I was about 2 minutes down on previous years.

Unlucky to be caught in the day’s only rain shower, but it was still fun and the “gspritzte Buttermüüch” at the top tasted lovely.

Gaudeamushütte > Wochenbrunneralm.

In Austria for a week’s holiday so went for the ‘standard’ loop around the village, with a chunk of climb.

My body really wasn’t up for this so I had to take a short break after 10 minutes. After that it didn’t get any worse, but overall most definitely Type 2 fun.

I’ve had a really tough few months at work with relatively little sleep, yet running was broadly ok. Now I’m on holiday it’s getting worse - my theory is that a stressed body full of adrenaline will do ok running even when sleep deprived, whereas a relaxed, overslept body will struggle because it’s on “chill” mode. But who knows.
