cycling 1:59:00 [4] 36.0 mi (3:18 / mi)

Evening ride with Brad around northern Baltimore county. Very hilly. Beautiful day. Brad's new bike is very light...about half the weight of mine I'd say. I'm jealous. Carried it around his yard for a while in amazement.

cycling 31:00 [3] 9.9 mi (3:08 / mi)

Short ride up the valley to try out the new pedals. Got some Speedplay X3's to replace my old Sampson Stratics. Apparently Sampson went out of business some 8 years ago and I have been unknowingly buying replacement cleats out of the remaining stock. Now no one has them, so I was forced into a new brand. These are actually an improvement over the sampson as you can step in on either side, and they still have the very large free-floating rotation (like 20 degrees). They are just as light too (~320g with cleats for the pair). I wear out the cleats pretty rapidly just from all the stepping out on pavement at traffic lights on the commute. These have aluminum plates on the base, but I suspect they'll wear as fast or faster than the plastic of the stratics. Also I can't swap these from left to right.
