A pretty decent run - my Scottish training camp paid off both in terms of technical elements and physical strength. A number of good technical controls and a couple of good route choice legs.
Started conservatively in terms of routes and decisions from 1-5. Then settled down and put in some decent legs. I found it quite tricky to read the vegetation in great detail, especially to the small patches of light green. It was easier when I was further away / higher up and could get better perspective.
First mistake was to #12 when I ran in the dry ditch but didn't spot the attackpoint into the control, so overshot and had to bash through the light green up the slope. Good through to #16, but then slid past 17 (well located behind the rock pillar). Biggest mistake was to #18 where I was too low. Climbed back up and spotted the significant tree which enable me to angle into the control. (Again it could be quite tricky to ID the sig trees if you weren't close enough or too low.)
Decided against a detour past the water point although my mouth was parched! Decent run in over the last loop.
The rocky terrain meant that high concentration levels were required to keep a decent pace which adds to the technicality.

2 loops to collect 9 controls. Did a better job to #17 and 18 than during the race. But then I did know what to look out for & moving much more slowly.

Nice run up and around Northcliff hill from home. Stayed off-road as far as possible.

Warm up then a pyramid session 200, 300, 400, 500, 400, 300, 200m @ 4min/km with 1.5 mins recovery jog.
