Running with weights 17:48 [1] 2.6 km (6:51 / km)

Just when I thought it don't get any slower...

Rogaining 3:05:35 [1] 11.0 km (16:52 / km)

Control setup for the event at Joe Grant. 21 of 35 total. Mostly walking (3 gallons of water in the pack for half of the way + e-punch stations). Subtracted all of the time spent sticking the stands into the ground, unfurling the bags, etc.

Rogaining 1:28:43 [1] 8.0 km (11:05 / km)

Control placement, part 2 (14/35). All walking, half in the dark, last control out at 1954. Some serious right tendon pain in the beginning but no apparent inflammation.

Note

It started to rain shortly after I went to sleep under my tarp on a picnic table. I woke up to an unexplained loud helicopter sound (do they have a helipad at Lick Ob?), followed by what sounded like a number of military planes circling around. I did not bother to investigate, and I wouldn't have seen much with the fog.
It rained through the night, ending right before the first start on Sunday around 10 am. By 11 am, the sun was angry enough that I got a sunburn from Sunday's training session #2.

Easy running 47:18 [2] 8.9 km (5:19 / km)

Around Santa Clara, some bike trails, some levees. Dark. Windy.

Note

I see no value in slow running on pavement anymore. Curiously, that's almost all I did for my 8.5 years in Indiana.

Wednesday Mar 6, 2002 #

Tuesday Mar 5, 2002 #

Ski orienteering 2:06:09 [3] 16.6 km (7:36 / km)

BAOC ski-O at Bear Valley. I DID NOT FALL!! yeah. Blue. Was on "classic" (sintered-base) skis but ended up skating about 50%, the rest was classic and downhill. It was extremely icy in the beginning, then it all melted into a warm mush.
