running 5:00 [3] 1.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Nike vapour flyknit orange

Ran around the car park as warm up

orienteering race 16:20 [4] *** 2.6 km (6:17 / km) +40m 5:50 / km
spiked:11/13c shoes: Nike vapour flyknit orange

What would have been a good run ruined by 2 controls. Spiked 1, but then didn’t see the gap between the buildings on 2 and went around the wrong building. Went back toward 1 and had another attempt. Spotted the gap the second time. Dropped about 1:10. Made up ground through to 7 with a series of good controls. Then completely stuffed 8. Headed out of 7 at 90 degrees and went left around the building as I intended. Trouble was it was the wrong building. Nothing seemed to fit. It didn’t help that Geoff Todkill then arrived. Ran around the building a couple of times and then realised the mistake. 3 minutes down the drain. Another series of good controls through to the end. A clean run would have got 2nd, and even just the error on 2 would have made it close, but that is not what happened.

running 26:00 [3] 5.0 km (5:12 / km)
shoes: Kayano 27

Started ok, but after about 500m started to feel fatigued. Plodded away, but the legs were feeling it

orienteering 3:00:00 [2] 15.0 km (12:00 / km)
shoes: New integrators

25000 steps for the day on the map. Early start to turn on a block of controls plus put out the radios. Then up to the start and back to check things there. Finished with control collection.
Fortunately no issues and people seem to have enjoyed the challenge of the terrain and Neil’s courses

Warm up run to the start plus more

VIC middle distance. Finished a close 4th, which is about what I was expecting. 3 errors plus a slow control, meant it was about right. Good start to 1, then a bit right on 2, so into the wrong erosion, realised straight away, but still had to get out, about 40 seconds. Good through 3, 4, 5 and 6. Then got tangled up heading to 7. Went straight to the control, but was slow. 8 was good, then misread the distance the mound for 9 was from the track and ran around the north end of the mound to the east and back another 40 seconds. Missed 10 and bounced off the road a minute, then it was straight running. Any one of the errors cost 2nd, so a bit disappointing in a way
