Classic ski 53:00 [3] 10.0 km (5:18 / km)

Morning ski at MacPherson before driving to Calgary. Conditions have slowed down a bit. Mickey Olson in both directions mainly.

Run 44:00 [2] 8.0 km (5:30 / km)
shoes: Asics gt 2110 #2

Out with the dog for a bit then a bit extra through town. Tough in spots that weren't plowed.

Downhill Skiing 20:00 [1]

Skiing over my lunch break at the hill is rough - especially if I have to deal with a foot of new snow (partially tracked up but still...). It is hard work skiing 1700 vertical meters top to bottom though - somedays I think I'd be better off moving to Ontario instead of subjecting myself to another run;)

Workout B

Bike 50:00 [3]

Indoor trainer. The first ten minutes always seem to take forever.

Run 35:00 [2] 6.0 km (5:50 / km)
shoes: Asics gt 2110 #2

Around town with Courtney. A bit treacherous given the new snow covering the ice underneath. I was hoping to run longer but got called to work.

Swim 55:00 [3] 2.3 km (23:55 / km)

500m of warmup, 500m alternating kick/pull, 1250 swim (23:50), then cool down.

Run 18:00 [2] 3.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Asics gt 2110 #2

Very short easy jog on the greenbelt with the dog.

Skate ski 55:00 [3] 14.0 km (3:56 / km)

Lunch time ski at MacPherson with Adam and Brendan. Skied the outer loop counterclockwise. Downhills were frigid today. I think I frost nipped my face and hands on our ski trip before xmas because they seem more sensitive to the cold since then. Or it has just been colder than usual this year which is also possible.

Backcountry skiing 4:30:00 [3] +1600m

Sapphire Col loop with Travis, Joel and Brendan. Cold artic air has moved in making skiing in the shade pretty chilly. Unfortunately the only good snow is in the shade so a pretty cold day today. Skied the loop counter clockwise which I think I prefer as you get a better descent. Nice to get into the sun near Sapphire. The slope up to the col was pretty solid and required bootpacking. Snow on the way down the Dome was good which was a pleasant suprise given the recent weather. 5 hours actual round trip time.
