Bike 3:00:00 [2] 28.0 km (9.3 kph) +800m

First time out at Standard Basin this year. With all the fires burning in BC the air was pretty hazy so the views were muted. Trail was as fun as ever though. Rode with Courtney, Sara and Kevin. Pretty mellow pace which unfortunately meant a fair bit of waiting around getting eaten by the flies. Wildflowers were out in full force. Ride time was 4.5 hr.

Bike 2:00:00 [2] +600m

Really nice ride in New Denver. Started on the Galena trail which is an old rail bed and includes a cool cable car crossing. Then we climbed the Alamo trail, an old mining cart trail with a nice pitch. We cut over and descended on Choices which had some fun sections. Back to town on the old Sandon road which also had a few fun singletrack sections.

Bike 4:00:00 [3] 35.0 km (8.8 kph) +1200m

Seven Summits trail in Rossland with Courtney and Atsuko. This trail has been on my list of trails to ride for a while now so it was good to finally get out and ride it. I think my enjoyment of it suffered a bit due to how high your expectations are given the hype surrounding it. Don't get me wrong the trail is unique - how often do you get to ride a point to point trail that covers about 30km of sub alpine ridges - and the views are expansive. As for the trail itself it is rather rocky and my expectation of a fast and flowy ridge ride did not manifest itself. Many of the downs are as tiring as the ups - and the ups are pretty tiring:) As the ridge travels from north to south the character of the vegatation changes quite a bit which is interesting. You start with typical kootenay forest and finish in terrain that reminds me of Kelowna.

As the forecast was for 32 degrees and there is no water on the ridge we all rode with over 4L of water. I certainly felt the added weight on the climbs. All in all I'd recommend the trail if you've never done it although there is a better alpine ridge ride in my neck of the woods that I prefer more:) Actual ride time was 6 hours.

Run 51:00 [3] +300m
shoes: Asics 2130 trail

Ran Inspiration woods, 5km, and then to the creek on inspiration woods again. First time that I've felt decent running in a while. A thunderstorm before the run made it rather humid.

Bike 1:30:00 [2] +400m

Social ride with Sara, Kevin and Courtney. Down Quarry and across the new trail to the falls. Climbed up the bluff trail and across the connector to Quarry. Nice to mix things up a bit. Still very hot.
