Bike 2:39:40 [3] 30.36 km (11.4 kph) +561m
First time I've been at a Fiver race in years (since I stopped organizing them?). A good turnout and a nice three lap course of Toad School, Berm Donor Connector and Dusty Beaver. I felt like I settled into a mid pack position on the road climb and then I was following behind riders for the first lap. The pace seemed hard though given my lack of mountain biking (and especially lack of high intensity) I wasn't surprised. My chest felt tight as well - I wonder if I'm getting some exercise induced reactive airways? I coughed for a couple days afterwards...
I seemed to be slightly slower than the riders around me on the down - I'm getting older and more cautious I guess. I was the fastest on technical single track and on old school Root Canal. Although my lap times were slightly slower I felt better on the last two laps and thought I maintained a reasonable pace. I have no idea how I did relative to others as results have not been posted. I'm curious how far behind Brendan I am.
