Alpine ski 1:00:00 [1]

15 runs x ~4 minutes per run at Craigleith. Fun to get out on the hill but man is that a short run each time.

Road Run 54:00 [3]

Frickin' freezing run around B-Town avec Rockie and Leanimal.

Orienteering race 2:21:00 [5]

Salomon Adventure Running Series Race #1 - Salomon Snowshoe Raid: Bob put together a good course with lots of hills and strategy to put together. After huffing and puffing our way to CP1 with the 60~ other teams, PhattyJR and I took off behind Trayling & Logie. We flip flopped with them for a while and then passed the teams going in the opposite direction. From there, we followed the elephant tracks all the way to the Hwy 12 crossing. We saw the yellow jacket of orienteering god Mark Adams so booked it toward CP18. Running scared, we cleared the rest of the course and hit the finish a couple of minutes in front of 2nd. Our first orienteering win ever so we were more surprised then anything else. Awesome day in the snow! Thanks Bob and Bash for making it all a super success...

Out into the HVHTA valley - trail, iced-over river, deep snow and road.

Road Run 1:24:00 [3]

Road, snow, and ice made for a differentiating surface to fun on but it was good to get out on an LSD run with Leanimal. She kept the pace nice and high.

Snowshoeing 3:00:00 [3]

Raining and chilly out but Leanimal, Slice, Wanakita, and pooch went to Bark Lake and back. The snow was pretty wet and heavy which made for more work and slow going - excellent extra training.

Road Run 45:00 [3]

Quick out and back run before dinner on the cottage road.

Road Run 50:00 [4]

Struggled to get out but Leanimal kicked me out the door. Did a quick warm-up before some hills and a quick run home.

Road Run 1:05:00 [3]

Super snowy run around B-Town which was kind of hard work for the distance covered. Awesome chilly afterward with the Wed. night crew.

Orienteering race 1:35:00 [4]

Deep snow to negotiate for this weekend's Thomass. Heeded Lee and Barb's advice and brought snowshoes - only to have them break during warm-up (I suppose 4 years of heavy use was pretty good). So, I used some Louis Garneau ones which were generously available to use for free. They weren't the greatest at all as there was no hinge (big rooster tail) and the tips grabbed the snow as I lifted my knee each step so fell a lot. I couldn't run in them without being all over the place so got used to a pace that worked. Thankfully, I ran into SC and she took them back to the start line for me 1/2 way through the race. Caught up to the e-male pack in the 2nd 1/2 of the course and finished just behind CP. Hard work in the snow but the creativity of the racecourse design was evident given such a small area. Super cold but awesome time.

Quick run before dinner.

Orienteering 1:15:00 [2]

Went out into the falling snow at Albion to do some o-practice with the Wed. night crew. Deep snow should make this weekend's Thomass race a bit of a slog.

Road Run 1:00:00 [4]

10 minute warm up and warm down afterward. Hit the Glasgow hill (317 paces at full hill climb speed) x 5 repeats. All times were between 2m23s and 2m25s which surprised me a little. I guess there's more in the tank for next time.

Tried out some new Exo Tights. They've got TPU webbing on them for support etc. Pretty tight toward the knee.
