Trail Run 2:00:00 [3]
shoes: Salomon FW15 Proto 2nd Pair

Had a plan to ascend to Rainbow Lake from Alta Lake are but we hit too much snow too early on. So we backtracked to Flank Trail and headed south. It's a great trail and we did a fun out-and-back on it before returning to the car. The riding along that side would be pretty good I think.

Road Ride 1:54:00 [3] 50.5 km (2:15 / km) +610m 2:08 / km
ahr:113 max:146

Crashing chez Logie just to the north of Creekside in Whistler and set off toward Pemberton. I only had a 2 hour window so had to thread the timing needle. There are quite a lot of cars but the shoulder is ample enough to get good separation. It was a bit cloudy but I really enjoyed taking in the views to and from the Welcome to Pemberton sign.

I have wanted to run to Deep Cove from Lynn Valley and back for a bit so gave it a go early this AM with a couple of quick-footed roadie types...both of which are at least 4 years younger than me. Some of the stuff they talk about shows me my age! The route is a good one. There's a bit too much groomed stuff in the middle but in sum, it's so nice to be in the trees. On one particularly technical downhill, I really tweaked my left foot. The sesamoid (sp?) just behind my big toe has given me problems for years. After aggravating it, it feels like a metatarsal is broken. So I'm hobbling around today...;&;)/$! Biking and core next week, then.

Core Workout 1:00:00 [5]

Inaugural 'Church of Pain' session in the Arc'teryx gym. Time to get all shredded up for Spain, yo. I'm going to feel this tomorrow...I just vomited a little in my mouth as I typed this.

Headed to Deep Cove, up Lilouet to the top bridge, and home. I tried to push pretty hard as I didn't have much time.

Another excellent weather day so I headed to the Lynn Valley for what was attempting to be a non-stop run to the top of Lynn peak. I was close but there are parts that are so steep. I'll get there one day. I really went for it on the way back down and added an extra bit of distance as I felt pretty good. Maybe it's because I'm 195 lbs at the moment...just a little less phat than usual!

Road Ride 2:30:00 [3] 51.0 km (2:56 / km) +1320m 2:36 / km

After I awoke yesterday and endured a full on t-spine spasm for the rest of the day, I slowly felt better today. I wish back spasms on no one..ugh. In any case, getting moving always seems to be a good cure so off to Cypress Bowl I went. Crossing the Capilano watershed is the biggest obstacle and so I did a little bit of trail riding on my road bike. The climb up Cypress itself is very steady. I could use a few more hairpin turns and steep bits personally. In any case, it's a solid effort to get to the top. A young kid caught up to me on the way back, we chatted for a bit, he told me he was out on 'Dad's' bike (a beautiful Colnago) and didn't usual road bike, and proceeded to absolutely smoke me on the next punchy climb. Little %^&*er... Now I know how FB felt at LR&S all those years ago! Baaaazingo!
