Trail Run 1:04:00 [3]

Covert op into the Pinery with Leanimal, DogRunner, and DogRunnerII. Felt sluggish for the first 1/2 hour but slowly got better from there. Knee aching for the rest of the weekend.

Trail Run 48:00 [3]

Ran from the Salomon Store along Lawrence toward the park when out of the corner of my eye, I saw a trail! I got on and burned south along what seemed like an old rail bed. It ended at a fence, which was easily gone around, and the next thing I knew, I was on the actual rail line. Against what would be my wife's wishes, I kept going south, figuring that I'd end up at the overpass above Eglinton. Yup, got down to the road and went into the Park for the return trip.

Sat in on Nina's Intro to Orienteering session and talked gear to the sell-out crowd. The one thing I still can't wrap my head around is why orienteering folks do lines on their maps in AR when the declination screw seems to take away all of the extra hassle...something to do with righting your map to north?!? I'm confused...

Mtn Bike 2:00:00 [3]

Inspired by the Hot August Nights competitors (PhattyJR, Gallipeau, and Forbes), I biked up to Albion to the chalet and the start line. Off I went, trying to follow what looked like a trail that had been ridden over a thousand times on the weekend. I started the timer at the start to see how I'd do with 'fresh' legs. Off I went and immediately was huffing and puffing with all of the fast climbs, turns, and technical work. I followed the trail pretty well and then obviously screwed up somewhere as I ended up at the chalet from the wrong direction. So, I went backward to a point that I think was the right spot and continued along.

Massive props to anyone who did this race in solo or pairs. It was such a technical course and you had to be 'on' to keep a good pace going. The mental fatigue alone would have broken me after 2 or 3 laps. Well done PhattyJR on your 2nd place finish and to Gallipeau and Forbes for their 1st place domination of the tag team.

Trail Run 1:28:00 [4]

Why Just Run Sunnybrook Park - Bent, Bash and I carpooled down to T.O. for this 90 min adventure run put on by TOC. Just like the last one, I was thoroughly confused at the format and how best to handle the strategy to getting the most points. So, instead of thinking it out, I just commited to trying to wipe the racecourse in the 90 minutes. I've hardly navigated this year so it's the practice that I'm into, not so much worrying about how well I do...or that's my cover up to being an idiot. Off I went during the muggy hot day and managed to achieve my little goal except for one CP. I had a few that I had trouble finding and took some shoddy routes to and from a couple but I was pleased with my speed. The watermelon at the finish line was so good as I wouldn't have been any wetter had I jumped in the Don River...although I'm not that dumb.

Mtn Bike 2:30:00 [3]

Attempted to keep up with Leanimal as I cruised along on my 29er while she skimmed the roads with her road bike. We headed out in the heat to Lock 42 on the Trent Severn and back from O-Town HQ. I gave it everything I had during one long section on the return trip to test the knee. Not bad but the running tests from this past week caused way too much pain / discomfort - no LR&S for me this year. FB has a solid grip on 4th now...Baazing!

Trail Run 52:00 [3]

Up to Duffy's entrance of the HVHTA, back along the trail to the wellness centre, then into town again. Very hot...lost many lbs in the process...

Road Run 50:00 [3]

The trails are getting mighty grown in but I pushed through!

Trail Run 50:00 [3]

Up to the Duffy's HVHTA along the road and then back through the trails home. Had to get a run in as I was going to be the Salomon Bobkittens' support crew on the weekend.

Road Run 45:00 [3]

Managed to haul my butt out of bed and hit the downtown roads of T.O. - there for work. The sweet smell of sulphuric acid in the air was awakening.

Paddle 5:30:00 [2]

It was a cloudy, yet warm day as we approached 'The Pig' - a 5.3 km portage into the lakes to the east of the East Arm of Opeongo. Wave action was moderate, not to be taken lightly, but none big enough to take focus away from the job that lay ahead. Would PhattyJR be able to go the whole distance of the portage with full pack and the Lake Trauler over his head? Would Phatty be able to match the effort? Would the rest of the crew ditch the intrepid Cameron Sisters, as they attempted to prove their endurance prowess?

In the end, both sisters made it within two minutes of each other, passing many a haggard portager along the way. A scant few minutes later, the rest of the crew emerged from the woods, yurning for salt & vinegar Crispers, La Femme's glorious gorp mix, and DogRunners endless coffers of chocolate.

After basking in the glow of a huge effort, the group pressed on toward the final challenge - a paddle of the full length of the great inland sea, Opeongo. Amongst 2' swells (or thereabouts), success was finally achieved!

Another Cameron Classic Paddle Tour (TM) is complete!

Paddle 7:00:00 [2]

Only slight avoiding a mutiny due to our second moose encounter, we paddled east along the mighty Crow River, dodging rocks, debris, and each other as we elected to line the boats downriver as opposed to portaging again and again. Only a few cracked ankles on rocks for me but I did get a bleeder. This took far longer than I had hoped so we lunched at 16h00 and pulled up just short of Dickson Lake, our intended terminus for the day. The hammocks were oh so comfy for a while during LaFemme's dinner prep.

Paddle 4:30:00 [2]

Let the epic Civic Weekend Assault begin! LaFemme, DogRunner, PhattyJR, moi, and the lovely Leanimal (+ 2 others) began our epic water tour. First up, a North Arm of Opeongo blast that put us into Lake Proulx, Little Crow, and eventually to Big Crow. They've got to do bookings per site as opposed to per lake because the circumnavigation late in the day for open sites is for jerks.
