Up Duffy's to Castlederg and back along the shoulder of the road. I tried to increase my foot speed instead of my lumbering gait but it's pretty tiring. I also tried out my new Exo Calfs and really liked them. I've been using a prototype for a couple of years and surprise, surprise, the production version is much more comfortable.

I think I may have been instrumental in Goose copping it sweet as I was complicit in him missing family lunch on Sunday...

We ran up through the 3 HVT sections, arriving at Duffy's with a surprise twist thrown in by Goose. We ran up to the tracks, ran west on them to a point and then bushed it back to the trail from there. Of course, I spiked the trail right on much to his surprise...but I knew where we were the whole time. Back we went, with me starting to cramp up something fierce in the hamstrings. I was pretty spent by the end and I was very pleased at the performance and cushion of the new kicks - lots of grip in the mucky sh!t, it shed said mucky sh!t well, and the virtual seamlessness on the interior of the shoe was very comfy.

Hard Rock - Ahhh Rona, what a great locale to start an o-race. Goose, Harps, Leanimal, Kirikou, and I drew straws as to our starting order, the followers to start 30s behind. It was Leanimal who somehow draw the smallest straw, followed by me. Of course, I gapped the distance by the first CP...sometimes my speed of the start line is sick. We'll leave out the fact that she beat me to CP3. I actually raced pretty cleanly, albeit somewhat slowly, through the first map but the wheels started wiggling on map 2. Goose and Harps caught me as I tried to find a CP12 on a pond - I just didn't have a great route from 11. I gave a little bit of chase but was pretty gassed by then. Good session but I had a hard time reading the contours on the map for all the trails - I've had a hard time there before. Hoping for a cleaner race in two weeks!

Bike to Caledon East and back with the Goose crew and Leanimal. Broke my trusty Rudy Projects...FB would shed a tear for me, I know.

Night time road run along the lake at a 'tempo' speed (I think I've heard runners like Hansel use that term) after a day of fighting for Salomon Canada's footwear needs. Happy to report a kick a$$ orienteering shoe is on the way! It'll be siiiiiiick!

Lumbered along the waterfront to a new path (for me anyway) that makes an assault on the west face of Mt Rampon - that's French for 'get your climbing legs moving'. Cool view of Annecy from the top.

Crappy weather in Annecy and late arrival so I did intervals along the west side of the lake along the walking path. Lots of huffing and puffing. Found a Subway afterward for refueling - lots of culture!

Caledon Navigators training session set up at Albion with Goose in the glorious weather. I pulled a bit of a Harps today and finished work around 14h30. We burned around to each point to make sure they passed the Bash test...and they pretty much did. The top 2 cm of the ground was slimy and moist while underneath was rock hard and icy - which made for tricky climbs and descents at times. Goose, of course, waddled through the woods with reckless abandon, caring only for speed.

SHORTS for the first run in 2010. People turned away in shock at the sheer whiteness of my legs but Goose and I soldiered on over a very hilly route up Duffy's to a misc mailbox and back.

A slight reprieve from the previous day's winds and rain during a circuitous tour of Fanshawe Lake today. Leanimal, Goose, and I faced many obstacles in our jaunt with water levels being 2 - 3 m higher than normal. We trespassed, we bushwhacked, we got wet...but complete the run we did, triumphantly! My legs were just about shot by the end...

Forced myself between yawns to get my stuff on and get out the door for a run around the neighbourhoods of B-Town. Knee feeling the same as last year but off to Orillia to see the magic chiro tomorrow.

Got through the entire DVD of Hard Core Conditioning...a first for me. Wow, that's a lot of crunches! I think I was close to vomitting in my mouth a little.

THOMASS K/W - Not sure of exact time because I dropped my SI card, so I punched my map at each of the 423 CPs.

Started off pretty well but definitely started to fall back from the superstars (Harsp and Duca) as their pace was far quicker than mine when I kept track of my place on the map. They dropped me just before 2 and I never saw them again. Other than taking a wrong trail in one of the 4(?) boxes, I was fairly clean but certainly not the most optimal route at times...need that highlighter first!

Went searching, in vain, for my dropped SI Card afterward for about 45 minutes, only to return to base to learn that someone had picked it up...thanks to whomever that was!

First ride of the year and I waited until the height of 'heat' for the day at 14h00 or so. In fact, I was almost hot on some of the climbs. Great to get outside and not be freezing for a change.

Later in the day, my knee started to kill me again a la all of last season after the E-Fix. My inflexible feet and tight calves are definitely part of the problem, but hamstring has to be a big culprit too - pulling the superior tib/fib joint and making it super irritated. Frustrating to say the least.

No legs tonight on a HVT run with Rocky and Pinet. Shin splints, sore blister area, and tired muscles. The weekend broke me...so weak.
