Trail Run 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Salomon XR Crossmax CS Neutral

Had to get outside for a run today despite the shin pain as the snow's threatining to leave with the mild weather. Leanimal and I drove to Scout's Valley for a session of easy snow running mixed with a few 'challenges' thrown in. A 'challenge' was something like, "Okay, you have to run to that fallen tree, up that hill, and scream down this spur to the start". Good fun, I say and Leanimal was up to the task...especially when I threw in a set of suicides at the local outdoor hockey rink!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

XC Skiing 1:50:00 [3]

Holy sh!t, it's misery stix season! Leanimal and I took advantage of Weeanimal daycare a la Grandma Mueller for a sojourn out to Hardwood for skate skiing. We picked up where we left off last season...wanting to chuck the damn things into the woods at times but ever so slightly less having learned some finer points from CoachLD and Goose. We broke down and got a set of classic skis with a mechanical grip zone; still have to mount the ProPulse bindings. Our thinking is that when we've only got a short window for a classic ski, we are happy to sacrifice a bit of speed for less futzing around with my less than stellar waxing knowledge and skill.

Trail Run 1:34:00 [3]
shoes: Salomon XR Crossmax CS Neutral

Holy %^&* winter finally came! It's amazing how epic a snowy run can seem versus the same one in the Spring or Fall. Leanimal and I headed out from Orillia central onto the Uthoff trail and into a Simcoe County Forest area. We cut fresh tracks and braved the bone chilling winds of the -10C day, admiring the freshly fallen snow that clung to every branch, tree trunk, and grass blade. Hopefully, some time on the misery stix is in order for tomorrow.

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY WEEANIMAL!

Both Leanimal and I were feeling sleepy but with such a gorgeous, non-December day out, we headed out on the Thames Valley Trail. It was so Spring-like...definitely not Boxing Day'esque.

Off to a restaurant for her birthday dinner including a cupcake for her!

Trail Run 1:04:00 [2]
shoes: Salomon XR Crossmax CS Neutral

Awesome, sunny day out in Caledon for a run from the north end of the HVT back to Bolton with Leanimal and PhattyJR. It isn't too often these days that Leanimal and I get to get outside together for a session so that was fun.

Weeanimal loves the wrapping tissue paper on presents more than the presents themselves...surprise, surprise.

Road Run 55:00 [3]
shoes: Saucony Triumph 7

Temperate out and managed enough activation energy to get out for a roady run en seul. I brought home a set of XT Softshell Tights for Fall/Winter 2012...they're siiiiick. Seriously sweet fit and windstopper front section to keep the nether regions from getting 'wind burned'. I'll still opt for the X-Adventure WINDSTOPPER with the same fit for the Canadian range but I'll push to have these babies changed into a Spring / Summer version for SS13.

Core Workout 1:00:00 [1]

Yin Yoga session...shin splints killing again so trying to work it through.

Trail Run 1:28:00 [2]
shoes: Salomon XR Crossmax CS Neutral

While I felt like stopping for a nap most of the way, I managed to gut it out for the duration. I started at Kearn Cliff Park in Burlington and went off of o-memory from all of the THOMASS', GHO training events, and Salomon DGLs. Eventually, I turned around at the east end of one of the forested areas where I'd otherwise have to hop a fence for the return trip. Much warmer than yesterday so my hands didn't completely freeze.

Trail Run 1:04:00 [2]
shoes: Salomon SpikeCross

Into the Humber Valley this AM before the Mueller family Christmas. My hands froze big time...I hate having the circulation of a 90 old. Snow on the ground...finally!

Trail Run 56:30 [2]
shoes: Salomon SpikeCross

What better way to spend a night, featuring 5C and rainy weather, than to slip and slide along a mucky trail with Goose. Only one header and thankfully it wasn't me!

Trail Run 50:00 [3]
shoes: Salomon S-LAB 3 XT Wings

Another work-from-home day so got out for a tour of Bolton Camp and the valley trails...in the DAYLIGHT! What a treat.

Orienteering race 1:07:00 [5]
shoes: Salomon XR Crossmax CS Neutral

Pretty tough THOMASS Chase racecourse for the AR 0 handicappers today with so many closely placed CPs and steeps. The Harps, Hansel, Logie, and I did battle but none of us raced clean. I botched up right at the beginning and lost the lead group. I managed to claw back a bit only to get passed by Hansel before the final push to the line. I got lucky when he took a different route to the 2nd last CP which caused him a bit of trouble and checked into the finish before him. I'll take it. Until next time...

Road Run race 20:15 [3] 5.0 km (4:03 / km)
shoes: Salomon XR Crossmax CS Neutral

The Indie 5k, Austin, TX - Here for a trade show called The Running Event and took part in the early AM road race. Apparently, Kevin Sullivan was 3rd so the field was frickin' fast. The roadie croud is definitely different than the trail crowd. I think I was the only one to do my warm up run off of the pavement...

Trail Run 55:00 [3]
shoes: Salomon SpikeCross

Pretty mucky session on the HVT...SpikeCross tore through it well.

Road Ride 1:45:00 [3]

Braved the lovely 6C and rainy weather for a little dance on the pedals around Caledon. I'm not sure that I was climbing with the same vigour (read: pace) that I did in the Spring and Summer. Almost no cars on any of the roads until I got back around Bolton.

Trail Run 1:35:00 [3]
shoes: Salomon SpikeCross

Bent came down to B-Town to jack the pace on an HVT session up to Castlederg and back. He was able to give a play-by-play on Bash's TNF run in SoCal while we ran thanks to his iPod.
