Race race 17:00:00 [3]

Had the honour of doing the QFAC with Mrs. Gally, Phatty and Hot Shot Lawyer. It was to be our last long race we were planning on doing so we were excited to participate and compete for the win. We knew that we would have our hands full with revamped Salomon team led by Leanimal who is on quite the winning streak.
Race started with an awesome rafting section to a zip line. We knew there would be a back log as this point so we hammered off the start to get to the Zip line first. We completed this and ran into the next TA for a nice paddle up the Ottawa River.
We finished the paddle with Team Salomon who caught up to us and proceeded to a short roller blade section which we ended up running.
From there, it was a long 52 KM bike with a series of CP to pick up on the way. It was in this section that our race was to change dramatically.
At one of the CP's we started looking for a CP with Salmon in the bush when I harmlessly stepped on a wet tree branch. I fell awkwardly and heard a loud pop. Unfortunately it was not the branch. I felt the end of the race flashed in front of me as my ankle blew up. After rapping it up and taking lots fo drugs, we made the decision to finish the bike and see what the damage was. We got to the TA and unwrapped the ankle to see a golf ball sticking out of my leg.
For some unknown reason I decided to continue on as I thought is was a sprain and with it being wrapped up and lots of drugs could continue on. We finished the next trekking section barely and felt like Gandolf walking around with my Poles.
Decided to do the paddle section as well but knew my race was done after this section.
The rest of the team continued on and it was smart that I didn't continue on as the next trek was long. The end result was Phatty and Mrs. Gally managed to finish the race unranked but in third postion which is crazy considering what we went through.
Congrats to Leanimal for a strong race and the win.

On the way home my leg started to swelling up and the pain actually dissapeared which was odd.
We ended up stopping in Trenton to check it out and to my surprise the Xrays showed that I broke my fibula, nice......

Note

Urgent!

We have a friend Janicke Ziemer who is planning on doing Ecco Esar race tomorrow but has an injury that might stop her from doing it. She is looking for a replacement, female or male. The other team mates are Mike Vanden Bosh and Wayne? I would assume that they would be looking for a podium finish. If interested email her at pjziemer@cogeco.ca

Rollerblading 30:00 [2]

First rollerblade workout ever. I figured it wouldn't be that bad as I've played hockey all my life but quickly realized that the back was going to be sore after this one! Poles would definitely help next time....
