Orienteering (Woods) 1:53:00 [2] ***
26c weight:189lbs

Two control picking courses at Castlewood (1:15) connected by two rather long legs. Legs felt pretty dead despite the intentionally easy effort.

Cycling (Trainer) 45:00 [2]

Did some easy spinning in the evening hoping to revive my legs a bit. I'm not alarmed by it - the last four days have been fairly tough.

Cycling (Road) 3:00:00 [3]
weight:189lbs

Figured it's getting about time to test out the climbing legs so I rode a shortened version of the 6 flags loop. Despite a full hours of soft pedalling out, the first climb up Alt felt like crap. Got a bit more rhythm on the climbs of 6 Flags and Woods. Overall mediocre, but nothing losing 10 pounds won't fix.

Running (Mix) 51:00 [2]
weight:188lbs

Warmup (24min), between courses (14) and a warmdown (13).

Orienteering (Park) 19:47 [4] **
14c

Testing a sprint course at Forest Park (1:10). Legs are a little soft today - probably could run this a couple minutes faster in competition.

Orienteering (Park) 18:37 [4] **
11c

Another sprint course at FP.

Gym (Cardio) 40:00 [4]
weight:189lbs

8x1:00, 2:00R on the elliptical trainer. Training indoors sucks, but it certainly does help enforce some discipline. One of my better workouts, with HR oscillating very nicely between 155 and 175 (steady state for 1 hour is about 170 for me these days).

Gym (Weights) 24:00 [5]

2 sets heavy, upper only.

Cycling (Trainer) 55:00 [4]
weight:190lbs

3x4:00@40K pace (basically threshold) 6:00R. Used a pretty big gear. Also rode in the tuck, even though it obviously doesn't make you go any faster on the trainer - I just need to get used to the position again.

Note

That G value is being a bit more stubborn than I expected. The inability to do long runs probably has something to do with it. I think I'm going to have to get rid of the peanut jar at work for a while.

Cycling (Trainer) 30:00 [2]
weight:190lbs

Started to go out for a couple of sprint courses at Forest Park, but my heel didn't feel right so I quit after just a minute. Came back home and rode the trainer for a while.

Monday Mar 6, 2006 #

Gym (Cardio) 10:00 [2]
weight:190lbs

Warmup on the elliptical trainer.

Gym (Weights) 20:00 [4]

2 sets, moderately heavy, upper only.

Swimming (Pool) 11:00 [3]

Had to get back to give Baby-O her breakfast, so only had time for a short swim. It's been a while since I've swam right after lifting - I forgot how much it sucks.

50@45, 4x100@1:50 go on 2:00, 50:@45.
