7 AM

Running (Road) 28:00 [2]
shoes: DS Trainers

Easy jog round the hood.
11 AM

Terrain (Mix) 30:00 [2]
shoes: Jalas Black

Warmup with David.

Orienteering race (Woods) 54:54 [4] *** 6.8 km (8:04 / km) +355m 6:24 / km
ahr:165 max:175 14c

Cold Nose at Rockwoods Range (1:10). Not very cold; ran in short sleeves. Just about gave the game away on the first control when I overran it badly. Got it back together and ran the rest of the course pretty well with 2 small errors. Definitely a runner's course (as you can see from the HR numbers). Got David by 30 seconds for the win. Death Match 2010: 1-0.

Quickroute GPS.

Running (Road) 20:00 [2]
shoes: Trail Attack 6

Footing was weird. 99 out of 100 steps would be nice and firm, then the 1 would be slicker than snot. I went down several times in the first 15 minutes until I made the adjustment. Nailed my hip pretty bad on one of them. Decided a warmdown might help keep it from stiffening up.

Running (Road) 29:00 [2]
shoes: 2140 White

Sort of easy jog round the hood. Felt fine, but it was probably a bit harder than I needed to go the day before a race.

Running (Road) 42:00 [2]
shoes: 2140 White

Easy jog round the hood.

Tae Kwon Do (Technique) 30:00 [3]

Family class with Yaya.

Running (Road) 37:00 [2]
shoes: 2140 White

Round the hood on the firm end of easy. Foggy enough that my 305 lost reception after the first mile.
4 PM

Skating (Ice) 40:00 [2]

With Yaya. Only about 20 other people there. Fun stuff.
6 PM

Tae Kwon Do (Technique) 30:00 [2]

Family class with Yaya. Spent pretty much the whole class on forms, so it was lower intensity than usual.

Gym (Weights) 30:00 [4]

While Yaya stayed for sparring, I went over to the gym to get in 2 sets moderate uppper & lower.

Mapping (Trail) 47:24 [2] * 2.69 mi (17:39 / mi)
shoes: Jalas Black

High speed mapping of the Dogwood Trail at Rockwoods Range (1:5). Yvonne needs a better track of the new trail for this weekend's meet than the sketch from memory that I did a couple years ago after running it the first time. I was actually pretty surprised how close I had it. Jogged along with the clipboard, sketching as I went just in case the GPS track turned out to be crap. It's close, but I'm glad I took notes because it's clearly wrong in a couple spots.
11 PM

Note

So, I'm sitting here watching my Epson 1400 spit out the overprint of the Dogwood Trail and I simply have to say I'm amazed that map after map is coming out with the registration marks so close you have to use a magnifier to see that they are off at all. That, plus waterproof dye in 7 colors so it gets all the IOF shades perfect. Any club that doesn't own one of these should really think about getting one.

Running (Road) 31:00 [2]
shoes: 2140 White

Easy jog round the hood. Foot feels OK again. I believe the culprit is not the plantar, but rather some tendon inflammation. The Icebugs seem to aggrevate it the most. The big flairups have all been after long-ish efforts in them. Too bad, because they are great shoes in every other respect. I might still be able to use them for shorter runs, but I think I'll just shelve them for the moment until things feel all the way better.

Running (Road) 2:21:01 [2] 18.2 mi (7:45 / mi)
ahr:148 max:196 shoes: DS Trainers

Low Plains Drifter, and if I can figure out how to link my 305 to AttackPoint, I'll have a track. With all the trails turned to goop after the big thaw, I was relegated to roads for today's long run. Seemed like a good time to test out the shoe/sock combo for Boston. As such, ran this one a bit firmer than my usual long run, but not fast enough to count it as long quality. Feet feet OK, although they're still a bit bruised up from yesterday. More on that later.
4 PM

Skating (Ice) 55:00 [2]

Skating with Yaya. Wasn't feeling like going hard after this morning's run and just as well since the rink was packed. Yaya continues to improve.
