Highlander day 2. North of the road to Arisaig this time. Cracking day, blue skies and stunning views. Scotland at it's finest! Pushed the pace a bit up the hill to no.1 and caught Alan Smith and Manny Gorman on the way to no. 2 so had a wee battle with them most of the way. Epic climb on the way to 3 where we fell behind again but caught them on the way to 6. Tough climb at the end of 6 where I took the bags then a monster of a climb/scramble on the way to 7. tough finish to the course! lost a wee bit of stime up this but hit the control OK then went OK to the finish. turns out Smithy and Manny made a mistake on the penultimate so held them off which was nice. Pleased to come second on the day though only a minuted between 2-4th. Swedes miles out in front!
Overall a top weekend. Felt strong and comfortable at that pace both days which was nice. Didn't feel too weakened by the cold though pushing a higher pace may have been tough. Niggle in tendons below right knee but not many other problems to report.

Highlander day 1. Running for team BASOC with Gav Miles. Fun day out. Started well at a decent pace. Tricky in the mist and made a mistake on no. 3 losing ~15mins at a guess. Had actually taken a nice line and was v close to the control but didn't see it in the clag then climbed on up then missed it again on the way down. Frustrating. Lost a wee bit of time on the next one misjudging distance in the mist. No errors as such after that but pace dropped on the long leg as Gav got cramp on the climb. We had the option of a ridge run on a leg after that which I woul dhave favoured but we went for the contour which wasn't fast. I still felt strong so took both bags on the last big climb then steady to the finish. Good day out, the mistakes didn't ditract from a very enjoyabe run. Great (but tough) terrain and top scenery.
Finished 4th miles behind the Swedes but not out of the game for a podium.
Enjoyed the banter, beer and chips at the midway camp.
