Trekking/Hiking 1:00:00 [2]

On the treadmill watching the first hour of the Rickey Gates Transamerica film, which is so well done! Tried running but my cough has lingering so walking it was.

Trekking/Hiking 2:05:00 [3]

My weekend backpacking plans were foiled by my cold, so I decided to make the most of staying home by doing a short section of the Bruce Trail from Mount Nemo to Twiss Road. I'd never done this before and it was surprisingly lovely and such a beautiful day for it.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

With my nephew Hudson at Guelph Lake to ride the fun trails I'd been telling him about. We must have ridden the pump track about a dozen times and he loved it.

Running 37:00 [2]

Woke up with a sore throat and cold this morning, likely the result of two near sleepless nights in the tent and cold this past weekend, so this was a pretty low energy effort, but I always consider doing something better than doing nothing.

Paddling 1:15:00 [3]

Paddle back to Pete's Place from Conger Lake. The portage had been 3/4 uphill on the way out so we knew coming back would be easier. It was sad to leave the site as it was a beautiful sunshiney day that was much warmer than Saturday had been!

Paddling 45:00 [2]

Paddling around Conger Lake.

Paddling 1:20:00 [3]

Took my 11 turning 12 year old nephew to the Massassauga for his 2nd annual birthday paddling trip. We made the trip a bit harder this year with a longer paddle and one portage from Blackstone over to Conger Lake. There were only 4 sites on the lake and none were occupied when we arrived. I had read a blog post about the site that I had selected (519) and it lived up to the poster's praise of it. Lots of flat spaces in the pines for tents, and a firepit overlooking the lake.

This was my first portage with Peter, who weights a hefty 62lbs, but I did it! It might have been easier if I hadn't forgotten the yoke pad in the car!

Cycling 40:00 [2]

Impromptu afternoon bike with my nephew at Puslinch because it turned into such a nice afternoon!
10 AM

Running 48:00 [3]

Waited for the skies to clear and ran another stage of the Trail Fix course before heading home. It was lovely and quiet on the trails and I only saw one other person.

Running 55:00 [3]

Realized that one of the Trail Fix stages ran right behind my campsite, so once I got set up, I just started following arrows. Every trip to Albion Hills reminds me that they don't call it Albion HILLS for nothing!
3 PM

Cycling 53:00 [3]

Alisha, Amber and I headed out for a pre happy hour ride on the Red Trail with some of our favourite singletrack sections thrown into the mix. Great to see so many people out there enjoying the trails!

Paddling 1:00:00 [3]

Paddle back in from Red Pine Lake on much less stormy seas (and therefore a much less anxious pilot). Next spring, I'll plan to take some canoe lessons to learn more about how to handle a canoe solo, but this felt like a great first test run and and I think Peter and I are going to be very happy together!

Paddling 1:00:00 [3]

Maiden voyage for Peter the Prospector with Amber and Iris out to a site on Red Pine Lake in Haliburton Water Trails. The conditions were a bit less than ideal with a fair bit of wind and choppy water, so this felt like a lot longer than it actually was. I was very happy with how stable Peter felt in the water though.

Trekking/Hiking 1:00:00 [3]

Went from my campsite to the Gut Lake trail before I headed home. The trail was short but stunning! Finished off the drive beaming with pride at Earl's endurance and prowess - what a little champion!

Cycling 1:08:00 [3]

I was supposed to stay at Mississagi for two nights, with a 7 hour drive home on Thursday, but with all of the rain, the campground (and trails) were a disaster, and I just wasn't feeling it. So I cancelled my second night at Missisagi and drove 3 hours towards home to Grundy Lake, which I'd also never seen before. I was so glad I did, as the park was beautiful and reminded me of a mini-Killarney.

Trekking/Hiking 1:00:00 [3]

A short sloppy hike at Missasagi in the morning before I left that confirmed my decision to move on.

Trekking/Hiking 2:00:00 [3]

Started heading further home today with a stop at Mississagi PP, which was eerily quiet since it was a Tuesday and the park was full of mainly seasonal campers. I got there in time to do the Helenbar trail, which was beautiful and quiet. As per the pattern that plagued most of the trip, late afternoon it started raining and poured all night. When I woke up in the morning, poor Earl was sitting in a giant puddle!
