Basic Workout 10:00 [3]

Run warm up/down 10:00 [3]

5 Warming up wondering if it was really the right time for the planned mission and 5 warming down feeling a fair bit happier

Run (time trial) 21:36 [5]

Tutu Road time trial. Really thought that I would now be comparing this to the one previous attempt (just over a week before 09 nationals) and saying, yep that confirms there's some serious work to be done. BUT:

outward split: 10:10 (-13 secs from April)
homeward split (which has the long vicious uphill): 11:26 (-7 secs from April)

And the even better news is that I still think there's plenty of work to be done, as there were at least 2 points I can remember when the legs were whispering about how much nicer walking would be.

Now I've done this twice I should figure out how to set it up as a time trial and see if I can lure any passing APers into demonstrating what a good time would actually be. (I'd do that through the "racing" tab?)

Basic Workout 10:00 [3]

Note

Did many things today with a hilux that I thought I would never do. Would quite happily never do some of them again .... but, man it was fun!

Run (terrain) 49:00 [3]
(sick)

Beautiful day. In fact first run at home in shorts for the season! After yesterday's day off, felt I needed to get at least half the planned 2+ hours for the weekend in, so planned on heading up to the airstrip then following the Te Hape boundary/ridgeline to the back valley then home. Unfortunately at 25 minutes in, thankfully at the bottom of the big climb that would have committed me to this plan, I realised I wasn't imagining that I was feeling a bit sick after all. So gently jogged home, with a detour through the rock garden on the basis that was mostly downhill so wouldn't kill me.

Hopefully this will pass quickly, and if it does it is good timing. We're heading down to Palmy tomorrow to learn how to drive our 4WD (14 months into the job) so had already decided easiest thing was to accept the disruption and have a few days off running.

Note

Yeah, the calves really didn't need that bonus steep hill yesterday. Hopefully they'll be ok with a day's rest. Not sure the planned hour plus run would have happened anyway - motivation at about 1% today.

Basic Workout 10:00 [3]

Run (terrain) 35:00 [3]

A bit of a struggle to get started but then came kind of right except on the steepest bits. Thought the cattle that have been living next door this week had been moved so started off on the same circuit as wednesday with the intent to take a more direct route home. Turned out they were all hiding in one gully, so I came up with a quick redesign. This involved a Chris Forne-style route choice across the steep face behind the house, and possibly one hill too many for the good of the calf strain. And there were also big mean looking beasts I'd failed to notice in what was going to be the last paddock. No way I was going back up that hill, so thankfully when sworn at these animals turned out to still be at the nervous age, or could smell the beef on my breath.
