Note

Right achilles a little sore today but considering I ran 6 km yesterday which was more than I was hoping to, I'm pleased with the progress.
Not sore enough to be limping.

Orienteering race (Metro Series) 31:50 [3] * 6.11 km (5:13 / km)
ahr:166 max:175

Turned up feeling a little under the weather but just hoping to get in a solid run and not make any big mistakes for my first Metro.
After a bit of a muddled start I started towards #13 but after a quick scan of the map I thought I could skip it and go straight to #6. Twice in the early stages I miscounted controls and had to rethink my route, however after picking up #23 I accepted that I had to run around the lake (I didn't need to) and continued without any further complications. Knowing I would struggle with the running I walked the last few meters into most controls and had a small walk up to #24. Afterwards I realized I probably could have cut about 1km off my run if I was paying attention and counting properly, and plenty of precious seconds to be saved not fiddling about at each control due to checking #'s and not holding the control card so it's ready to punch.
Overall happy with the result, No problems with the calf (wearing old shoes again), No problem with Nav, never unsure where I was just what I was doing.
Looking forward to next week at Kings Park.

Not sure if the official time was 31:15 or 31:50 so I'll take the quicker one until told otherwise. (stopped watch a bit late so that is slower still, definitely won't be taking that one)

Just checked results, 31:50.

Right achilles a little sore yesterday morning but got better during the day. Much better than last time. Should be fine to run tomorrow.

Windtrainer warm up/down 15:00 [3]

Run 14:00 [4] 3.01 km (4:39 / km)
ahr:158 max:174

Won't judge this run too soon as the morning after my last run my right achilles was very sore and I was limping for a few days.
I have been focusing on getting my legs better, plenty of stretching/strengthening/foam roller. My theory is that the recent shoe change with extra cushioning in the forefoot has caused the strain on the calf muscles. Today I ran with my old shoes after a good warmup on the cross trainer. Ran at a good pace all the way as I wanted to give them a good test but not willing to run much further just yet.
Tossing up whether to ice the legs or not, hard to judge if it's the ice or shoes if I do and all is good in the morning. Then again would be better to ice them than risk limping for a few days.
No pain or tightness during the run.
