Yoga 35:00 [2]

Chloe joined me for some yoga (lots of "why can't you bend this far daddy?") I wanted to see if I could loosen up the hammies a bit. After the run on thursday my right hamstrings were more of a concern so I concentrated on icing them so I would be fine for today. The left hamstrings were more of a concern during yoga today feeling tighter than the right. I should have been icing both legs, not just the more painful one.
Very tight but no painful areas, I should be fine if I stick to an easy jog today.

Orienteering race (MetrO Series) 32:04 [3] 5.75 km (5:35 / km)
ahr:162 max:180 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS

I didn't want to rush the start like the last 2 weeks so I started slowly towards 21, checking that it was a good choice before fully committing.
After working out the majority of my route I held a steady pace and kept catching and losing a guy who made a few mistakes and didn't look like he was always aware of where he was. Luckily for him he had the speed to afford a few mistakes. At 11 I noticed Fletch senior who was not far behind me turn back after getting the control and we were heading in opposite directions, I did think quickly, this guy won last week, am I making a mistake? but I didn't waver and kept to my planned route.
I should have picked up 15 after 24, then dropped 19 as that was a bit of a messy finish, but I'm learning each week and for a third attempt I'm quite happy with how things are going.
No problems today with the hammies or calves, I could feel the left tightening up a bit but I kept the pace nice and easy so I wasn't too concerned.
After adding an eye below #14 my route looks like a dog play bowing, that's gotta be worth a time bonus to bump me up a few places.

cross trainer warm up/down 15:00 [2]

Run 16:56 [3] 3.04 km (5:34 / km)
ahr:148 max:182 shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS

Planning on a simple jog back in the new shoes to see how things go.
As I ran past the school oval I thought that a few intervals between the footy goals would be nice for a change but as I didn't want to run for too long I decided to only do 5.
distance between goals = 110m with walk/jog recoveries back to start.
1 - 18 sec
2 - 15 sec
3 - 15 sec
4 - 14 sec
5 - I decided to push a bit harder but half way started to tighten up so I stopped.

Jog back home then plenty of stretches.

It was probably a mistake to do this but I just wanted some variety and it felt good to get some speed up.
If I'm sore tomorrow I won't know if it was the shoes or the intervals so that stuffs up my original goal.

Strength /Core 35:00 [3]

Followed by some more stretching/foam roller torture.

Run 16:00 [3] 2.5 km (6:24 / km)

Hip flexors were feeling a bit tight after yesterdays paddle so I thought I would go for an easy run to get some relief. Didn't take long to realize that I need more than 1 day off from running, legs felt very heavy and after about 1k I stopped due to some discomfort in my left shin. Started up again but soon stopped for good as it wasn't getting better and I didn't want to risk adding another injury to my list.
Walked home and iced shin, feeling better later in the evening.
A bit disappointing after feeling good running 6k at the Metro on Saturday, I'll just have to take things slowly, at least it wasn't the calf.
