Forgot to note the nature sightings! Five large toads and seven tiny ones, no bunnies. Probably other toads we didn't see but these were on the sidewalks.

Walk to start of Mocanaqua Adv 1 course (UsynligO). Low 80s today and sunny, less humidity than there has been.

Orienteering 1:51:44 intensity: (15 @0) + (23:47 @1) + (1:07:13 @2) + (18:49 @3) + (1:27 @4) + (13 @5) **** 4.47 km (25:01 / km) +98m 22:33 / km

Adv 1 course at Mocanaqua (thanks again, Greg!), intended to cut it short at the end if I was taking a long time or for another reason. I didn't take splits at all of them because I kept forgetting...first split is at #3, I think.

Did 1-13 then skipped to 20-21-F. Had a couple controls where I asked for help (one was a boulder in an area with unmapped boulders so I wasn't exactly sure where I was; the other was a cup depression where I was off to the left and turned left for a bit at the wide reentrant instead of right). Fascinating ridge line with huge depressions/pits between 12 and 13. As I was dropping off the ridge heading toward 13 there was an abandoned camp (lots of logwood framing and rotting tarps). I have a photo on my phone to post later. I was hoping no one was there, and didn't see anyone as I passed by.

Some places slow-going because of either waist-high vegetation or greenbriar vines.

Cut it short because right knee was starting to complain, as was left foot (the one that went in a hole last week), though the last few were in what looked to be an interesting area.

Didn't see any blueberries on the bushes I saw, but blackberries are starting to ripen! A small patch was conveniently located near the finish circle. ;-)

1 PM

Walking warm up/down 14:42 intensity: (7:05 @1) + (7:28 @2) + (9 @3) 0.89 km (16:25 / km) +6m 15:52 / km
ahr:102 max:123 shoes: 2019 VJ Falcon 6.5 scot

Back to the car. Stopped to pick some blackberries, and also to check out the bat cave enclosure. That's a pretty heavy duty fence.

Yoga 50:00 [1]

Deanna's beginner backbends...

Monday Jul 27, 2020 #

Note

Walk around neighborhood after dinner, temp around 84 (it's not supposed to drop past 80 until after midnight...I am SO happy to have A/C). Not pushing the pace; 57:50, 5.05 km.

One bunny, one toad; Jupiter, Saturn, and half a moon.

8 PM

Walking 57:50 intensity: (1:18 @0) + (51:44 @1) + (4:48 @2) 5.05 km (11:27 / km)
ahr:94 max:115

Yay...track loaded, semi-automatically (after I visited Garmin Connect to make sure the watch was syncing).

Then automatically to AP.

Note

Hiked at Burkhart Preserve on the hillside in Emmaus. About 83 and shady. 75 minutes, 4.62 km. Track later, though I covered all the trails shown in the track for this outing.

A few annoying gnats, one fly and one mosquito, and a ton of spiderwebs across the trail. Fortunately they weren't huge and the spiders small; I picked up a stick and swung it as I walked, and got most of them out of my way. Ate some wineberries when I came across them, too. ;-)

Neat butterfly which I either saw two of, or saw the same one twice: red-spotted purple butterfly.

10 AM

Hiking 1:15:06 intensity: (2:46 @0) + (33:11 @1) + (28:26 @2) + (10:22 @3) + (21 @4) 4.62 km (16:16 / km) +91m 14:48 / km
ahr:104 max:138 shoes: 2019 Altra LP4.0 9 rspb

At about 17:50 in I had to hop off the road (and chose to go uphill rather than down) because there was a car approaching. It's a multi-house driveway so not quite a private road, but we'd never encountered vehicles before.
