Note

Results on DVOA page, with a link to the Relay results as well. Our relay team finished 10/22, a respectable placing for a team with two 70+ year old runners (our third runner is not quite 40 years old).

Brown course at Mid Atlantic Champs, Camp Rodney Reservation near North East, MD, 2.8km, 90m climb stated, 1:7500 map. Conditions were: foggy, light misting drizzle, and low 50s so not bad, really, considering we could have had a downpour. I wore a light LS shirt and light raincoat, and my rainhat.

Had to wait for a couple other Brown runners to head out and disappear before I started, then I seem to have headed off in the wrong direction (following Lena, which--since she was on Red--was wrong), and hit the stream way upstream of where I should have been. Corrected and found the bag. Fine to 2, but then left IT in the wrong direction (wrongly thinking the marsh at the bottom of the spur would be messy, when it turned out the high land I went up to was thicker) and I managed to cross several reentrants rather than just one. Eventually got there and settled down; rest of the navigation went well. Kathleen and Greg Lennon passed me on the way to 9. Probably lot 3-5 minutes on 1 and 3.

Finished in 5th for the women, so earned points for DVOA.

Mid-Atlantics relay, on a 9-pt team with Rob W and Sergei Fedorov. I was on the first mass start leg, 1.4km/35m climb, Yellow difficulty. First two legs were uphill so I was left in the dust, but the second batch of leg 1 runners (6-pt) didn't catch up until between 7 and 8. Tagged off to Rob, then realized I'd left my car key in the pocket of my raincoat, in the car, and Glen was 2nd runner on another team and was already out on the course.

Downloaded, and then wandered around the assembly area until he got back and I could use his key to get into the car. ;-)

Watched the finish of the top teams: QOC 1-2, then DVOA in 3-4.

With the fam at Little Lehigh Parkway, to see Boegert's covered bridge, the Planet Walk, and the Fish Hatchery. We walked the loop from Boegert's up to the next crossing (where the planet walk starts) and back, then Glen drove my car to the Fish Hatchery while I walked the trail from there at a bit higher speed (the portion between 3km and 4.5km, about 18min). Then a bit of strolling around looking at the fish. Temp in the low 50s and mostly cloudy.

There's a heron who hangs around there and sometimes gets lucky despite the netting over the fish ponds. Saw it catch an estimated 6-8" one today. In exchange it lets people get within about 10' of it.

S Whitehall Rds. Mid 40s and sunny, some breeze at times but it wasn't biting.

Lots of warehouses as they are close to a turnpike entrance, Rt 22 and I-78.
