Orienteering race (Night) 43:00 [3] 4.0 km (10:45 / km) +100m 9:33 / km

Aire Vamp O night event on Dainfield. Lots of kids out. Annie wanted to run with Sophie and Adam with Al and Jake got scared last year so was staying at home so I was out by myself.... Ran out to far end from mass start picking up upper controlles then started running back towards start and avoiding getting close to anyone in case they were vampires as they steal your map and controlls and turn you into a vampire if they manage to get you with there red light. Skipped a couple of flags with Vampires right by them then managed to pick all the rest up and get back to the start in about 25 mins. Felt I would have to try for the two missing controlls so went back out and ran though the wood avoiding the paths around behind the controll then sneeked in with no lights.... Did the same for the last one and then just about got to the finish in time. No one else got them all so a box of Roses to share as a prize. Both annie and adam got vampired more than once but managed to get back with some controlls Annie with 10 points more than Adam.

Cycling (MTB) 1:49:44 [3] 31.6 km (17.3 kph) +610m

Out with Al to Gisbure forest where there is some new manmade singletrack. Quite a good loop but needs a bit more work to make properly all weather. Normaly a good hardpacked surface but there are one are two muddy bits and the big nice swoopy bit at the end of the far loop on the figure of eight course was cutting up quite badley, needed some more nobely tires was geting fairly loos through it and a good downpour will not do it any good at all. Did a lap and a half, which is easy to do given the configuration. Lots of people out, Al says the most he has seen is 3 or 4 cars half term there must of been 40+...

With Al from Otly up through the Chevin in the dark. Good fun all sorts of very small trails twisting and turning all over the place up and down. Just under 10km in the wood mistly single track.

Club Sunday run. Bridge Monmouth Abergaveny road but turn for Llanath then on to usk road and back to Chepstow. Fairly breezy and some showers but I think we missed the worst. 9 out at start but AlanG went off the front we past him up the Why Valley with a puncture. Paul C went back over the hill from Monmouth Allan cought us up and promptly went off the front again although one person did hang on so at the Llanath turn we were 6 not knowing where Allan had gone. All in all a fairly civerlized outing, I actualy found myself quickest up the big climb back over but the others were not realy trying apart from Graham. Had a little wait at the top as the young girl 16-17? was begining to suffer by then but never the less was a good effort.
