shoes: Scale

national league 1. Cannock Chace. 2nd just under a minute down on Steve Heading so a good result but I was over 4 minutes down half way around but Steve looked to miss a bit on the free order section so I pulled some back. Missed the paths to 1 but just blasted hard around the outside rather than dithering. Same turning into 2 buit it looks like this was a very common error. 3-7 good but route to 5 may not of been right. Lost over a minute on 8 which is a suprise clearly I ended up on thre hillier route and the alternative must of been well fast. 9, 10 good, slight overshoot to 11. 12 13 good but could not get the little ring going to 13 so had to stomp out the hill. 14-15 OK. free choice was OK 221, 207, 223, 222, 224, 167, 211, 208, 168. 25,26 OK missed a path on 27 but little difference in time. 28-29 good came off going to 30 crossing the road into the carpark stupiud. Map board broke off so carried it to the 30m and the finish. also came off by download on my way to the finish 20 yards away....

Nice course had to keep concentrating all the way a good area for it pitty there are so many bridleways restricting the planning. Starting to feel it the last 10 minutes but that is probobly right.

Steve was well warmed up he had cycled out from Matlock 30-40 Miles and was cycleing back. He is clearly putting in proper miles for the 24 in May.

Orienteering race (Night score) 58:30 [5] 8.0 km (7:19 / km) +200m 6:30 / km

WNL Blakney. Very bitty early on. 1, missed 14 then turned the wrong way. 20, missed 21 pit path beyond missed it comming back too only found it on 3rd go. 10, 24, 25 OK Lotsd of people had real trouble with 25 but I did not notice anything found it OK. 18, 11, On 8 I was too far up the track and wasted a good minute. Went in too early for 13. 7 this was the decision point and I decided to skip 5. 16, 6, 15, 4, 9, I was a bit below 23 but fortunatly someone else found it. 3, 26, 19, 22, 2, 12, 17 and into the finish a minute and ahalf early. skipping 5 was the right idea without the mistakes early on then clearing would of been possible. Legs a bit stiff early on but seamed to get better as I went.

Shirenewton, Devauden loop. Nice and sunny but the stiff breaze made it feel very very cold. Had yet another puncture, up by the carpark on the top road. Not dodgy old tire this time a very sharp slither of metal sticking though. Took 5 minutes to extract it hands freezing by the time I was finished. just steady no pushing hard with the tempreture.

Haksbury upton loop. Steady and slow out quite a northerly blowing. Stoped off at Johns to pick up my water bottle coffee and cake... A bit quicker back from there with tail wind and having warmed feet back up. Slight diversion where road is shut added a couiple of km over normal

Jog out onto map then around all the controlls for my night event and jog back to van. steady going not flat out but not too slow either. Finding the tape was tricky a few times. 3 controlls I did not see it and wandered around checking I was in the right place before going back and spoting it where I was looking originaly. Flakes of snow in the air all the way around.

Severn Sunday run. The hard route up brockwier, kern bridge, welsh newton, monmouth and the high road back. Had two punctures and was going down again coming back through Chepstow, undoubtedly somthing I am not finding in the tire. My own stupid falt for not puting the new tire I have one. Took John up on his offer of a lift back from Aust where he had driven out to. so will have to take some stick for that. Did not kill myself on the hills HR 150-160 typicaly, then after the first puncture going up past the cycle center at swallow vallets I was killing myself to hang on up to 167 turns out the mudgaurd was rubbing on the wheel!!! A lot easier when I fixed that....
