Severn RC Welsh Weekend. 6.30 start to get out to meet at Aust. Why Valley to Monmouth, Grosmont, Hay on Why (quick cofee stop) , Builth Wells, Ryader for Lunch at 95 miles!!! Then the serious loop big climb north then west though Develis Bridge south to Tregaron quick break befor the final hilly 20 miles over the devils staircase and down to Llanwrtyd wells.

Long groupe, Niel (National v50 hill climb champ), Roger, Graham, MarkW, Mathew and myself. Trying hard to go steady early on, did not push the climbs going up to Hay. Fell off just before hay getting into gutter but just a bit of a grazed elbow and a brused hip. A few bits of pushing more heading to Ryader as there headwind picked up and we did an organised through and off session on the main road.

After Lunch it was agread that we would let the first hill split us into two groupes. I hung onto Niels wheel for all I was worth before loosing it half a km from the top. Niel was working hard as the headwind was hard and having the wheel helped a lot. We waited a bit and then droped down and waited again then spoted Roger so carried on as a three. Niel did anout 60% of the leading myself the rest. Roger said his Calf was cramping up alot and not to wait for him but as it was we never got a gap on him....

The last bit back from Tregeron I did not try to go with Niel but he never got too far out front and waited at the tops so we carried on as a threesome. All manged to ride the climbs includeing the the 22% bits up the devils staircase. Had a stopo at the bottom of the decent as Roger blew out his rear tire in spectacular style. We were very quick for the final 5 miles 25-30 miles an hour great fun after 9 hours in the saddle.

Pre lunch. sunny so dodgy altitude.

Running 50:00 intensity: (10:00 @1) + (20:00 @2) + (20:00 @5) 8.0 km (6:15 / km)

Westbury Mikes group. On the grass, 2 * 1,2,3,4 with half time for recovery. Was going well long way infornt of the rest of the group should of considered going with Chris's groupe but 2 * 4km on the road would not of done me as much good.

Cycling (road) 3:00:00 intensity: (2:35:00 @2) + (25:00 @4) 80.0 km (26.7 kph) +500m
shoes: Scott RC1

Over to Johns with Paul, then loop north to join yesterdays route then into Bearkley. Jophn Broke a spoke just before bearkley and we headed back on a straight line route home for him up the old 10 oute to the A38 where John headed back to the lanes. Very steady till there but then as we were going to miss the styart oif Paris Nice on the box Paul and me went into farly hard 2 up mode all the way back along the A38. Got stoped at all the lights which was anoying.

Logging stoped about 12k from home. Flat battery I think, left it in a powered up mode over night accidentaly. Time to try getting the dodgy xmega ADC working to get the voltage displayed and give myself some warning.

Running (mixed.) 1:00:00 intensity: (30:00 @2) + (20:00 @3) + (5:00 @4) + (5:00 @5) 11.0 km (5:27 / km) +200m 5:00 / km

Bok training from Inn on the Green. Had Adam along so considerably quicker than normal he is around like a gray hound. Charles and myself kept him company between ourselves running all the outside loops to give the rest plenty of oportunities for corner cutting. Managed to leave him on the final road hill. I warned him it was long at the bottom but he still went off too fast and half way up I was past him. Pushed hard to the top, I want be able to beat him like this for long so best to make the most of it while I can.

Cycling race (MTB) 2:50:00 [5] 45.0 km (15.9 kph) +500m
shoes: Scale

Open 5 bike. Going fairly well but then managed to puncture my tubless tire after about 2 hours. Put tube in and blew it up but on taking the pump off the valve came out flying off goodness knows where. No more tubes so walked casualy down to the road carrying bike. All chatted to a mate doing the fell race that was just about to start then got an offer of a tube from someone else so back on again. Ended up with a 45 minute split for about a 15 minute leg. Finished off missing 2 CPs one we would of got if still going properly.

Running race (mixed) 1:24:00 [5] 10.0 km (8:24 / km) +400m 7:00 / km

Open 5 run. Forgot to pick up map for run but as Al dose the nav normaly I did not go back bad idea as we missed two CP's early on that I would of at least questioned missing as they would of only taken 5 minutes each for 10 and 15 points. Not going too badley but not managing to stride out very well whgere I should of been going a bit quicker suffering a bit from the biking. Kept up OK up the big climb but was working realy hard at it. We ended up coming in 15 minutes early so timing was not at all good I should of done some work towards it rather than leaving it all to Al. 520 points in 4.15 active time was good best was 585. We should of had 445 even with the mechanical. Without it we should of been looking for 580 probobly which is what the best male pair got. 2 hours running would not of done me much good mind you.
