Severn saturday run. Was ment to get better during the morning but actualy got worse very wet by end. Amazing what thew prospect of some female riders dose. We set off with 17!! 3 female so not the severn aparently seen 2 weeks ago. Good decent pace but not to stupid either from where I was doing tail end charlie job. Shirenewton loop. Some quicker bits catching back up when Graham droped back. Quite hard but OK when back in the tail of the group. They were stoping in Tintern for food but I went straight on as I did not want to risk getting cold. Came straight back with 5 others.

Cannop Ponds WNL. Never realy got up to speed untill the last 20 minutes. Think the ride this morning had taken more out of me than I realised. Strugeled in the roughth ground initaly and nav very scrappy. Failed to find 18 thought I was doing it safely aiming off for veg boundary but never realy fund the right one I think.
8,13,17,16,23,27,25 missed 18, 21,20,24,26,22,19,12.
Ankels hurting afterwards.

Out into three brooks in the dark to test the newley reved hewlmet radio light. Radio working well now definatly acceptable where as before it was not good. Magic trick is to give it a seperate voltage regulator. I was getting less than 0.1V of interferance with it before but that was clearly far too much. Took a bit of work actualy doing it as it was not going to work in the old case I was using for it and the bflex so I had to fashion a new case and rework all the wiring.

Turbo session to test helmet light in a more controlled manner. About 2 minutes at 15,20,25,30 and 35kph. Initaly with light on standard settings, then repeated with light high level set very low so not much differance whatever the speed.

Clearly need to turn the resistance up a bit for real speeds as heart rate never went up far.

And here is the interesting graph for the light testing.
From bike_logs

Green is reception quality low is best eg 0 is 100%, 256 is 0%. Red is light level, blue speed. So reception is never good eg 50% at best but falls off badly with higher light levels. This implies an interferance issue I need to try and isolate the radio board better from the driver board but as the driver board has the microcontroller and it's voltage regulator is used for the radio board things are not easy.

Hoc Night event on the southern half of Kinver edge. More brambles than I remember from in my youth... Not so good technicaly scrapy and having to attack twice on 61,62 and 64. Also messy on 60 where big straight path on map has some destinct bends in it so I ran all the way to the edge of the map to be sure where I was. 66 had gone missing and as it was in a very shallow re-enterent full of brambles to took some time befor I was sure it was not there and I was not just being blind.

Still managed to clear the course with plenty of time to spair.

Out to Cawm Carn in the dark after the rain had past. Out to test some new stuff with the radio helmet light. I have some feedback on the quality of the radio link and info on battery voltage etc. coming back from the helmet to the bike computer.

Plan was to do two laps but it was not much fun as I quickly climbed into the fog. If it was not for testing the helmet light I would of been better off switching it off as the white beam where your looking made for very bad visability trying to look away and use the bar light worked better. Fairly slow going on the decent because of this. Only got fast again on the final drop down where I came out of the fog.

Radio link not looking too good. Ok at slow speed going up but gets terrible at higher speeds coming down. Realy I guess I need to test in a more controlled maner e.g. on the trubo at home. Need to work out if it's the speed or more likely the fact that the light is turned up higher at speed. and the high powered buck driver could be interfearing with the radio boad on the same power suply. Not good stuff.

Bok Training from the Mill House. Took people on a mystery tour over new off road ground for most of them. Up through the golf course to the iron bridge along to penpole and down the end though to the portway. along the green bit and down under the railway and along by the river back over the small paths with steps between the portway and the railway.

Good fun in the dark. Not been around this route for a while as it's too far for me from Blaze realy but the mill house just cuts enough off.

Severn Sunday run. Devauden, Monmnouth, up the road towards Colford ment to be straight back to chepstow on main road but we had some more climbs added down towards redbrook but turn though newlans before dropping back towards river and up the climb to st Brevils.

Going better on a Sunday than ever. Right up with the front group on the climbs with James, Glyn, Anna and a guy called Olli on a single speed!!! (not sure if it was Bekinsale but woul explain a lot) James got us to put in the extra cimb down to go though Newlands and thn up to St brevils. We came out just behind John and Graham how were way off the back on the climbs. James and Olli headed down the brockwier climb presumably for another accent but my legs were feeling it by then. Bonking fairly badely comiing back into Bradely Stoke.
