MTBO race 3:10:17 [2] 49.73 km (3:50 / km) +992m 3:29 / km
shoes: Lux

49.728km with 992m climb in 3:15:56. Pontypool heights Iorienteering app event I did not do during the year. On the lux to get the full mud tires which I thought would be needed up on the top. They did help but it's tough going up the big climbs on it. Feel like I need another gear.

Canal start north before zig zag up to the top skipping 5 which always looked not worth it. Up onto the ridge and all new to me south muddy to start but then a great green track in intricate contoured detail stripe. Nice little short cut to 21 then the rough muddy track back up north. Now fast forest roads across the valley and down cycle path before stupidly steep road descent logged at -33% but it's not that accurate down. Across the river and up through Pontypool Park befor final couple on canal and Into finish.

Realy good day out nice riding and views from the ridge.

MTBO race 2:59:04 [4] 47.23 km (3:47 / km) +801m 3:30 / km
shoes: Exceed

47.227km with 801m climb in 2:59:04. A bit of a mad outing to have another go at Rhigos Iorienteering event. Wanted to do it again as I thought I had a tweaked route that was better. Saddly not dry this morning like hoped really rather wet and had to force myself out with warm top and cag on. Hoping to take cag off as meant to get better but never did.

Great downhill new start, long push back up then basically all slower than the first time although in theory lots of it is all big forestry roads and weather proof. Did the extra control out the end but all a big stream and went over my boots so wet feet from there on. Clearly too slow to do the starting loop at the end like planned.

Winter riding is just a lot slower. Clothes were all rather heavy at end which want of helped up hills. Glad of heater in van.

MTBO race 2:49:47 [2] 39.92 km (4:15 / km) +1074m 3:45 / km
shoes: Exceed

39.915km with 1074m climb in 2:49:47. Another go at Wemtwood Iorienteering course. Decidedly damp especially at end. A nice course with a good bit of new stuff. Thought app had not registered at 8 but think it beeped nice and early as the half hour beeps came from IpBike. I spent 5 mins cursing the app for not working when it had already registered. Down from 30 was rougher than expected a couple of push down steps. Push up from under A449 all the way to top was hard work as expected.
