Note
Felt pretty tired by the time I left the the Area 307 race site yesterday once all the controls were back in, and felt semi-recovered this morning. Enough so that I didn't mind at all helping pull controls today. By the time I got back to the parking area with my controls, almost everyone had departed except for the last event organizers, and good for the departed because by then the wind was ripping along right proper.
From there, I wanted to take a look at the Unfair Race course and just see how it looked. I was not surprised to find that it was hard to see even the tiniest traces out in the forest that anything had happened, and even then you had to a) know where to look, b) look very hard, and c) be willing to discount the possibility of cow activity having created whatever you found.
I thought I might do a little more running after that, but that was about when the activities of the past week really caught up with me, so I scratched that idea.
Of course the event wasn't flawless (how many things are?), and for me in particular I just wish I had caught on to the fact that nine loop 1 maps had ended up in the loop 2 stack when I was putting together the relay map packets. But still, overall the smile/frown ratio was right where you want it, and it seemed to me that folks had a pretty good time. And the transition from summer to fall yesterday afternoon could not have been more perfectly timed. ; )
