Finally rode up to Wilmette's pancake house and back without a bike problem. Very enjoyable early Sunday morning ride. Couldn't induce Sari to join me this year. Thin Swedish-style pancakes and fresh-squeezed OJ were good too.

Last Farmers' Market of the season. Stocked up: apples, pears, tomatoes, sourdough bread, green beans...still a lot to choose from. Lugged it back home on the bike, while trading places with the CTA bus (bus tag) all the way up Halsted Street.

Klein Creek GC, Winfield. Cool, sunny, breezy day. Took late train to avoid the 'frost hold', walked a mile down the Great Western Bike Trail, and teed off at 10am.

Wasn't feeling it; third round this week and getting old. More important stuff to do at home. So quit after playing the Front Nine (badly), had lunch while waiting for my bus, and was home by 3:30.

Extracting from Rochester, Minnesota: Via car to St Paul; Megabus to Chicago (8 hrs - very decent), and two L trains home at 10pm. A lot of walking, burdened by heavy backpack with a week's clothes medical records and supplies....and a bag of 13 golf clubs, balls and tees. I'm sure I appeared like a lost country club member, walking around bus terminals and city streets, looking for the shuttle to the first tee.

Soldiers Memorial GC, Rochester. Last day in Minnesota. Going home tomorrow after seeing Dr Kwon for the last time. Not as nice this morning as yesterday; cool, overcast, and windy. Played 18 holes at this downtown course that is being closed by the city soon.

Decent round; par 71. Played from the tips and it still only took 3-1/2 hours.

Eastwood GC, Rochester, Minnesota. Just 5 miles outside of town, and very hilly. Old glacial terrain. Walked the whole 18 holes! Perfect day: sunny, cool, bit of a breeze...and no one else out on this Monday.

Very challenging for a flat-land golfer. Putting on those sharply sloped greens was like playing Skee-Ball..putt the ball up the slope, it ascends and descends in a parabolic arc, with no contact with the hole!
