Orienteering - Bush (NOY6 Belford) 58:49 [3] 6.5 km (9:03 / km)
(sick) shoes: Slazengers 2012 MkB
Been sick for over a week so log gone silent.
Have not been managing gym or anything ... been taking cold and flu tablets each day trying to shut off the running tap of a nose.
Sickness meant I took it easier today and that I felt every step.
But was good to be off the couch / out of bed.
Last ran this area in constant rain in 2012 and today looked like it was going to be the same. Very open forest with no lantana or spiky bushes so can run almost as fast as on the street (when body capable).
Rain held off for my run, returned whilst I sat in the car with Denis and discussed my upcoming event, then stopped whilst I did control collection, and then returned again instantly when I got back in the car to go home so can't ask for better than that.
Fairly clean run apart from 7 which totally ended my race. Coming 7th on the way to this Control .... and then 14th coming out. Came to the correct valley but about 15 m high so past all the erosion. So I thought I was in the clearing below the erosion, so went east. To the east it branches up off into three water courses (not shown as being connected to the erosion on the map?) so I chased up each of these trying to find where the merge point was. Gave up and came back west before finding the top of the erosion gully and coming down to the correct spot. The 15:16 I spent looking should have been more like 5 minutes so this plummeted me down to my usual depressing spot at the bottom of the leaderboard.
