Adventure Racing race (Killafergus) 5:01:24 [5] *****

So much tougher than Killamunda - the extra hour plus the extra hills killed my legs. Still it was a good course definately more interesting than Killamunda especially with the 'twist' exercises thrown in.

Still pretty happy with the race be interesting to see how I went overall (and if I beat Andre again :) )

First orienteering went ok lots of hills and not really sure which cyclists were Aussies except for the obvious ones.

TA1 - TA2: Mt bike controls were ok once I got started except 2 where I took the slow way and lost a bit of time. Rode with Wil from 2-TA2.

TA2 Exercise: Only picked up 3 foot/mt bike controls which took me about 15 minutes including a mistake finding #6 so I made about 15 minutes which was ok.

TA2-TA3: Single track but hard to enjoy because I was too busy looking for the controls luckily I found all 3.

Wild Bull Brewery: Found the controls pretty easily and worked out it was a beer from about number 3 but as I know nothing about beer I had to take a detour via the 'brewery door' to check which beer matched the clues.

Wild Bull - Wovenfield: A pair thundered past me, turned right down the wrong rode and then came thundering past again only to ride past the actual road.

Wovenfield Wines: Saw the first one easily so ran to that then ran the same way as a few people before seeing another control further down the hill. Bending through the vines was getting interesting at the end.

Wovenfield - TA5: My legs were empty by now and I could only watch Andre and the pair ride away from me. The last hill up from control 6 was especially steep and awful and I walked.

Orienteering Course: This was okay - my legs were tired but I knew I just had to be clean and I'd do ok. A bit high on #5 but otherwise pretty good.

Note

Food
Before:
6 x weetbix
hot chocolate
muesli bar

During:
3 x lemonlime carbshotz
1 x wild bean carboshotz
1.5lt vanilla-orange shotz electrolyte

Almost ran out of food during the race - wasn't really expecting it to be 5 hours could've done with a shotz bar as I got hungry.

Paddling 45:00 [2]
(sick)

First paddle for a while.

Got out through the mini break, didn't fall in on the paddle but then tried to catch a wave in ... which resulted in a cold swim through the seaweed.
