Finally! A run in the woods that I'm happy with. I didn't have trouble with any of the controls, just some hesitation at #11 when I thought I had gone too far along the slope and was about to turn around when I caught sight of something that looked like a gully. And it was! With the control in it!
I think I made good route choices -- I'll look at RG when it gets posted -- and I was moving pretty well. I was only 9 minutes behind Peggy instead of the regular 20+.
From the first control, I kept seeing a guy in blue who looked like he was also doing Brown. He punched ahead of me at #4, but at #6 he was too far east. I snuck in and out and didn't see him again until he caught up to me at #11. He was right behind me heading to #12, but then he veered right and I went right to it. I finished before he did and was still in the download area when he came it. It was Jim Lingar (!), whom I hadn't seen in many years. It was nice to catch up with him, even though he beat me by 7 seconds. :-(
It wasn't until I was driving home that I remembered a trip many years ago when Jim and I and Tanner (still a baby at the time) had driven from Virginia to Michigan for an A-meet. We stayed in a cabin with Mom and Don and had a great weekend.
