Running 28:48 [3] 3.75 mi (7:41 / mi)
slept:5.5

A little more marathon pace running on the treadmill at the Y. Was going to do 4, but I had run out of time before picking up Luke from hoops.

Paranoia is setting in - every little ache seems like it will prevent me from finishing on Sunday.

Running 29:41 [3] 4.0 mi (7:25 / mi)

I haven't run from the Y since before XC practice started, but I was back there today. Felt the need for some Marathon Pace running. My tempo strategy for the kids was to maintain the intensity, but drop the volume by a bunch, so that's what I'm trying for myself. So, good old East-Culver-Park seemed like the answer. MP was nice and comfortable - after a 1/2 mile easy, I picked it up just a bit too much, but the 1.1 from East/Culver to Park/Goodman was right on.

Note
slept:6.75 (rest day)

Didn't plan on two off days in a row, but I couldn't leave work in time to run before the XC banquet. I'll look on the bright side and think that the extra break is great for the quads that were surprisingly sore today, given how slow I ran on Sunday.

slept:3.75 (rest day)

It was non-stop today, after watching the Bills game until 3am (how could Dick decline that penalty???), but the legs could use a break after yesterday, so it's all good.

Blue Hills Traverse

It was probably really dumb to do this a week before the marathon, but I couldn't resist the excuse to visit Chelsea.

Got off to a terrible start, with too much rocky footing. Should have been a trail / road run, but I fell back because of the rocks and got distracted by the wrong people. By the time I got out to the road, I was way back. Took the left trail option to C2, and found clean running near the highway to C3.

I spiked 5, 6 and 7 and just about caught JJ on the way to 8. Went past the staties' place to 9. Strayed too far right to 10 (on the trail too long), so went thru the marsh and did extra climbing. Someone was behind me, so instead of going out the easy way, I tried going straight and got hung up a bit.

Leaving 11 was not fun, since I had already done the climb once. The rest of the way was pretty straightforward, until 18, which I had to really hunt for.
