You know it's going to be a 'good ride' when your alarm doesn't go off and you have 15 minutes to get ready and out the door! The power went out at my house sometime overnight, and then again as I was getting ready - perhaps this should have been a sign of things to come! :)
Sherpa did a loop before meeting up with me, and as we started it was starting to look a little gloomy. Not too bad and we were holding out hope that it would be nice(ish). Not long after we started, we saw some lightening off on the horizon, but where we were was still relatively nice, then it got a little wet. Still not too bad. About 30 k into the ride, I was looking at the clounds and thinking... nope... this does not look good. So we turned around and headed back to the car. There was starting to be more lightening and the clouds were starting to look pretty nasty. Wind started to pick up a bit.
Excellent timing on our part. Just as we were putting our bikes away, it really started to get nasty, wind picked up a lot, downpour, big thunder and lightening getting close. We were safe and sound and stopped at Starbucks to grab a little something to warm us up.
Good adventure, and still a good training ride. :) Thanks Sherpa!
