...rhinos would eat laurel. I realize that they don't typically encounter it in their native habitat, but maybe if they were imported, they might find it tasty. Some entrepreneur could get a herd of them that he'd bring around to ranches such as yours, and send them out to munch on the vegetation. Kind of like having a goat to mow the lawn.

what they might find most appealing at Ratlum. Seems like a high risk of some unintended consequences. They like to go out at night, which implies that one might be a good mascot for the kind of event we have coming up.
Goats typically do a pretty crappy job of mowing the lawn - they're browsers rather than grazers. But they probably wouldn't be very effective at Ratlum since Kalmia is toxic for them.
If I make it down there, I'll take some to add to my Christmas decorations. The shiny foliage would make a pretty cold tolerant accent. Kind of like magnolia leaves in the south.
