It sounds from what you wrote like you chose similar routes to Saturday rather than optimal... but I'm pretty sure you purposely chose different, right?
No consistent philosophy in my choices. Mostly, I favored 'through green' legs to practice holding bearings and maintaining pace for this weekend.
Sometimes I ran the same route - wondering how much confidence and pace would help. Other times I switched from around to straight (7-8 and 3-4). 1-2: On Saturday, the veg pushed me left and I was surprised to end in clearing, from where I picked up mapped trail. Dogleg to big field or straight to big field, then field-trail run is probably fastest. On TU, I stayed straighter, found unmapped trail and took it right to field. 8-9: Straight, clean on Saturday. Same route Tuesday, but veg pushed me right to EW trail. Went east to field, then corrected and used smaller trail.
