Lol, I remember being so frustrated by those people when I started orienteering. How could I keep meeting them at each control when I only ever saw them hike? Then I began to appreciate their smarts, and now we *are* the wise old guys.
Speaking of which, ugh re 1:15,000. I haven't done many O events at that scale but I need to rely heavily on magnification and even then, the detail on the maps is often harder to read. Funny that an adventure race map at 1:50,000 seems so much easier but we're not making such detailed decisions in those events.
Congratulations on winning a Canadian Championship! :)
Now to go look at photos... :)
