Parry Sound is home to some of the very best orienteering, adventure running and adventure racing terrain Ontario has to offer. The area has been the host site of several Wilderness Traverse and Raid the North races over the last 20+ years and is now the home of the Challenge the Shield Adventure Run and the CTS Adventure Race.
CTS races are 100% volunteer organized and our volunteer team includes a group of former International orienteers including Wil Smith, Katta Smith, and myself, Mike Waddington. The Smiths have experience hosting several XTerra triathlons and I have been course planner of several Championship orienteering races and numerous Raid the Hammer events.
Our goal is to share the amazing Parry Sound terrain with our endurance, adventure and navigation sport communities with 100% of our profits returned to youth programs, map development and local ski and mtb trail development.
Our inaugural races in 2023 were a big success and we are hoping to increase 2024 participation from the 40 teams of two to 70-75 per race. Save the dates!
CTS Adventure Run (2-hr and 6-hr): May 5, 2024
CTS Adventure Race (6-hr): Sept 8, 2024 (tentative)
With over 100 km^2 of LIDAR map surrounding the Georgian Nordic Outdoor Activity Centre to play with each race offers many opportunities for new adventures.
